Job interview question

I lost my job last month and I applied for another one last week. I was called in for an interview yesterday with the human resources director. After we finished she went to see if the hiring manager was available, he was, and received the second interview right then and there. I think it went very well but was curious, is that customary to have the first and second interviews on the same day one after the other? thanks.
