NEW YORK (AP) — Wealthy financier and registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was arrested Saturday in New York on new sex-trafficking charges involving allegations that date to the early 2000s, according to law enforcement officials.

Epstein, a wealthy hedge fund manager who once counted as friends former President Bill Clinton, Great Britain's Prince Andrew, and President Donald Trump, was taken into federal custody and is expected to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court, three law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.

One of the officials said Epstein is accused of paying underage girls for massages and molesting them at his homes in Florida and New York.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the pending case.

A message was sent to Epstein's defense attorney seeking comment.

Epstein's arrest, first reported by The Daily Beast, comes amid renewed scrutiny of a once-secret plea deal that ended a federal investigation against him.

That deal, which is being challenged in Florida federal court, allowed Epstein, who is now 66, to plead guilty to lesser state charges of soliciting and procuring a person under age 18 for prostitution.

He averted a possible life sentence and instead was sentenced to 13 months in jail. The deal also required he reach financial settlements with dozens of his once-teenage victims and register as a sex offender.

Epstein's deal was overseen by former Miami U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta, who is now President Donald Trump's labor secretary. Acosta has defended the plea deal as appropriate under the circumstances, though the White House said in February that it was "looking into" his handling of the deal.

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra of Florida ruled earlier this year that Epstein's victims should have been consulted under federal law about the deal, and he is now weighing whether to invalidate the non-prosecution agreement, or NPA, that protected Epstein from federal charges.

It was not immediately clear whether the cases involved the same victims since nearly all have remained anonymous.

Federal prosecutors recently filed court papers in Florida case contending Epstein's deal must stand.

"The past cannot be undone; the government committed itself to the NPA, and the parties have not disputed that Epstein complied with its provisions," prosecutors wrote in the filing.

They acknowledged, however, that the failure to consult victims "fell short of the government's dedication to serve victims to the best of its ability" and that prosecutors "should have communicated with the victims in a straightforward and transparent way."

The victims in the Florida case have until Monday to respond to the Justice Department's filing.

According to court records in Florida, authorities say at least 40 underage girls were brought into Epstein's Palm Beach mansion for what turned into sexual encounters after female fixers looked for suitable girls locally and in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world.

Some girls were also allegedly brought to Epstein's homes in New York City, New Mexico and a private Caribbean island, according to court documents.

Saturday's arrest also came just days after a federal appeals court in New York ordered the unsealing of nearly 2,000 pages of records in a since-settled defamation case involving Epstein.

U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse released a statement Saturday calling for Epstein to be held without bail pending trial.

"This monster received a pathetically soft sentence last time and his victims deserve nothing less than justice," Sasse, R.-Nebraska, said in the statement. "Justice doesn't depend on the size of your bank account."

Well, it isn't THAT often I have to take a bow and say:

Meesterperfect, I guess you have been right all along.

This happens on a Saturday before Monday when documents were going to be unsealed. Also how many times has this guy been busted and let go?

I remember few years ago a link talking about plane logs that had a whole lot of names from Trump, Clinton, Dershowitz, Prince Andrew and many others. Still nothing done.

I remember too well, too. And now, it may finally go through. And we can be curious how the Trump angle may play ouit

Note that such cases are no more taken on federal level. They won't risk the president throwing a pardon for his cronies.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Last year, The Guardian reported that Epstein’s “little black book” contained contact numbers for A-listers including Tony Blair, [NOBABE]Naomi Campbell[/NOBABE], Dustin Hoffman, Michael Bloomberg and Richard Branson.

It strikes me as sorta odd that Little Mikey Bloomberg's name keeps showing up when high net worth sex offenders get outed. Other than the obvious, how is it that Mikey seems to be buds with so many of these guys? :dunno:

There are rumors on certain financial forums that it's only a matter of time before there's a parade of Asian women marching against him with #MeToo lawsuits. One thing's for certain though: Mini Mike do like women from the Far East. Nothing wrong with that... as long as you're not promising them jobs at your network as long as they'll show you the goods or do the old twist & shout every now and again.

Fun Fact:

Epstein's New York residency is a former school. Nice touch.

Jeffrey Epstein Found Injured in Manhattan Jail Cell

Accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was found injured and in a fetal position in his cell at a Manhattan jail on Tuesday, according to sources cited by NBC New York, which first reported on the incident. Investigators are reportedly trying to get to the bottom of what happened, but the wealthy sex offender was said to have been semi-conscious when he was found.

After initially being put into the general population at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, Epstein had been moved to solitary protective custody after other inmates had threatened him, a source familiar with his conditions had previously told The Daily Beast.

Two sources cited by NBC said he may have attempted to hang himself, while another source suggested the injuries were so minor that he may have simply been trying to get himself transferred. An assault has also not been ruled out, with a fourth source saying a former police officer serving time on drug and murder charges has been questioned.

The New York Post, quoting sources, said Epstein had injuries to his neck.

Judge Who Denied Bail to Jeffrey Epstein Calls Him ‘Uncontrollable’ and a ‘Danger’

Epstein’s lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

But Bruce Barket, an attorney for another inmate on the same unit, told The Daily Beast that his law partner saw Epstein and his attorneys at the MCC on Wednesday morning “and he looked fine.”

Barket said a report that his client, Nick Tartaglione, had been questioned about a possible assault on Epstein was inaccurate. He alleged that his name was leaked by someone at the jail in retaliation for complaints about “hellhole” conditions there.

“They know each other and have gotten along well,” Barket said of his client and Epstein.

Epstein has been locked up at the MCC since he was arrested July 6 after arriving back in the United States from France.

He asked to be released on bail and put on house arrest at his $77 million Manhattan mansion, offering to pay for security cameras and armed guards and to let a “trustee” live there with him.

But U.S. District Judge Richard Berman shot down the request earlier this week, finding that Epstein was a flight risk and unable to control his sexual urges. Epstein’s team has since filed papers to appeal that decision.

Barket said both his client and Epstein are in the Special Housing Unit, where restrictions compound what he described as “inhumane” conditions across the entire MCC—including insect and rodent infestation, dirty linens, and broken equipment.

“The whole place is a disaster from top to bottom,” Barket said.

Liberals want pedophilia to be legal, so it's no wonder that their leaders-like president Bill Clinton-are pedophiles.

I'm a little bit disappointed. Heard about it on the radio all day, was expecting her to be hot. Surely a billionaire can find a hotter partner in sex trafficking?

Wow, what a cunty thing to say, to make light of the woman sexually assaulting and facilitating the sexual assault of minors. What megatwattage.

Keep the class coming, cupcake.
