While, I am not in a position of questioning the intentions of this fighter as one's freedom-fighter is other's terrorist, and I don't know where the video is from, however, such anarchist armature fighters who keep yelling religious slogans while doing what they are not trained or supposed to do, are mostly inspired by Wahabism. It is an extremist Sunni movement of Islam that started in Saudi Arabia and was exploited, encouraged and funded by USA during Soviet-Afghan war. Al-Qaeda and Taliban, both are strong adherents of this movement. Ironically, Saudi Arabian government, a strong ally of USA, is also a subscriber of same religious movement.

Wahabism is a self destructive ideology and believes in many violent myths as true history and gets inspiration from such myths. This movement is often not recognised in West and is naively called Radical or Extremist Islam.

Here we go.....it's all our fault.

Wahabbism and it's extremist ways are the norm now. They were begun by a Saudi Imam in the late 60s to combat the growing threat from Godless Communism that had spread throughout North Africa.

I.E. We, the US had nothing to do with the rise of the Islamist movement.

Doesn't anyone read books anymore? Jeez.

Yeah that's true.

I saw a thread on another website about the mortar video. One guy said the terrorist was hit by a tank shell.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hilarious video, but the way I see it is...
One less guy holding an AK-47 firing on US troops.

Not 1960's but in 18th century. Wahabism was started by a guy named Abd-al-Wahhab in 18th century. Yes, you are right that Wahabism seems rampant these days although most terrorists aren't well-read in religion that's why they so easily strap a bomb to their bodies and blow it. Ever wonder why Osama bin Laden or Mullah Omar never blew themselves up? It's because they know what they are feeding their followers is total bullshit. Political agendas are being wrapped in religion to exploit religious morons.

Having said that, USA should pull its head out of sand and take responsibility and face bravely and intelligently the consequences of its actions. US with the help of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Pakistan did support and fund the spread of Wahabism by spreading its Madrasahs (Arabic for school) in Pakistan along the border of Afghanistan. These Madrasahs trained Mujahideen (plural of Mujahid, literally means someone engaged in Jihad) to fight Soviets. During the Soviet war, according to some sources, the number of Madrasahs grew from a few dozen to 10000.

To fight terrorism, education against Wahabism should be encouraged and funded, and wider religious education and discourse should be encouraged to help educate masses of Muslims. A religiously educated Muslim would be extremely unlikely to become a terrorist.

Extremely likely you mean. The 19 hijackers on 9/11 were well educated university graduates so islamists from religious and secular institutions are terrorist material.

Those hijackers had secular education without any in-depth religious knowledge. Their lack of thorough knowledge of religion, its laws and the processes of interpretations and definitions of these laws by "scholars" helped them convince themselves blow-up 3000+ people.

Ignorance is bliss for political extremists. Remember Al-Qaeda and Taliban are basically political movements who draw their strength from the exploitation of religious zeal and ignorance of masses. Think of Nazis who used vulnerabilities of German people and exploited extremist nationalistic zeal to forward their own self-centred agenda.

Or think of Church in the western dark ages.

The 19 terrorists were Takfiri Muslims. They became very devout, enough to murder nearly 3,000 innocent people.
Don't make the mistake by underestimating religious zeal and don't make the mistake of mislabelling it as "political".

Yes, they thought they were devout Muslims because they were told so by their leaders who encouraged them to "sacrifice" their lives for their religion. I am not saying that the actual hijackers' intentions were politically motivated. You are right; they were Takfiri (Extremist Wahabi) Muslims and actually believed that what they were doing was the "right" thing. My point is that their vulnerable religious sensibilities, which were because of lack of personally gained thorough religious knowledge, were exploited by their leaders - most of whom are still alive and on wanted lists - who were politically motivated. The religious knowledge that those hijackers gained to become so called devout Muslims came through the filter of Wahabism - a filter created by al Qaeda leaders - which exploited their theological ignorance and the result was not the murder of mere 3000 "infidels" in USA but the murder of hundreds of thousands of Muslims around the world both by foreign powers and by self-righteous Wahabis who consider ever such Muslim who disagrees with them an infidel. That's why I call this extremist movement self destructive.

These guys and 98% of the Islamists who murder know exactly what they're doing. They have a perfect grasp of their faculties.
The other 2% are the poor mentally challenged ones or children who are forced to murder or blow themselves up for Allah because they are told or tricked into doing so.

I think it's the other way around. 2% are controlling other 98% who actually themselves up in a hope for 72 Hoors. A hoor is usually thought to be a virgin woman but modern scholars are also debating and challenging the sources of such male-chauvinist interpretations as Quran never indicated what a Hoor actually is.
