Interesting article. I think music basically rewires the brain and changes how it perceives things. By looking at patterns and combinations, making sense of them, and seeing where they fit in the brain starts to organize thoughts differently. Maybe that's why new parents are told to play Mozart for their babies; to start training their brains in aural timing, spacial recognition, and patterns and sequences before they even say their first intelligible words.
Just for comparison, I'd like to see the flip side of this article, and read about prison inmates and other not-so-successful people and how music training has or hasn't affected their lives.
