While I will grant that more diligence could likely have made a different, anyone who believes that the American Government actively planned any part of September 11 is utterly ridiculous.

What about President McKinley and USS Maine? Bay of Tonkin? Our role in arming a thug like Osama Bin Laden against the Russians? Our knowledge of all the would-be hijackers being present in the States? Are all these things that the government was not part of, Dirl?
Seriously, why people think our corrupt ass government couldn't possibly have a role - to pooh pooh it - I think is at least naive. Not saying they did or didn't (how could I?), just saying it is at least possible. You can't deny it.

I thought about it but then realized no one would vote if they had the tiniest inclination to vote "yes."
We also have a long history of installing leaders in nations we disapprove of. South America is littered with dictators we installed. The Middle East as well.
I'm not saying the government is above plotting and scheming, but the September 11 attacks were different than anything you've mentioned above. To intentionally plan a terrorist attack on your own soil, causing devastation and many lives - I don't think so.
If by "role" you're referring to it neglecting solid intelligence that pointed towards an attack. Then sure, it played a role by doing just that - which isn't even taking into account the given justifications (right or wrong) for said attack. But to say it had a hand in plotting said event is rather ludicrous.

Yes. I realise this now. Soon after I posted that I had a sudden urge to hoard as much gold as humanly possible and I knew they were channelling their energies through me once again.
