Iowa Caucus results in

Results:
1. Romney (projected, not yet confirmed #1, Santorum may yet catch him)
2. Santorum
3. Paul
4. Gingrich
5. Perry
6. Bachmann
7: Huntsman

Paul first, Bauchmann dead last in voters 18-29
Romney wins for voters 65 and older

Do you think that Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann and Huntsman will disappear after this? Surely to goodness, the bottom three can't possibly continue...

Ah, my home state. It only comes to prominence once every four years and they inevitably give us the lesser evil. At least I can wear this proudly.

Just my two cents, but Michelle Backmann is a poor excuse for a politician. She's basically her husband's puppet, and her Christian antics are disgracing all the women who fought for her to be in the position is in. She's also terrible at answering questions, even by politician standards. and worst of all, she pretends to have never said things that she has said in the past (like her homophobic remarks).

I'm sure you were being sarcastic, though.

I was. But in my heart of hearts, I was truly looking forward to the ongoing gut laugh that Bachmann as the nominee would bring.

Still looks pretty close between Romney and Santorum. Dunno why its so exciting to watch this stuff. I guess its better than half the crap I watch on tv. :p

Sounds like Bachmann and Perry area already contemplating dropping out. That sucks. I would have loved to see either one of those idiots stumble over their own tongues in a debate against Obama. I wonder if Perry can name three candidates that did better than he?

Huntsman is probably gone pretty soon, too. Not that many people have or will notice. I don't mind the exit for Perry or Bachman, but the circus of crazy that is Ron Paul needs to vanish as well.

Romney and Santorum in a virtual tie, with Romney getting 8 more votes. Both at 24.6%. Ron Paul with a strong 3rd place (in this case, I'm calling it 2nd place) finish with 21.5%. Once the other rats leave their sinking ships, a lot of support could shift to Paul.

At this point, Santorum is the easiest for Obama to beat.

Huntsman is not out. He's put all his money into New Hampshire and he has a shot there. Watch out for him

Santorum has no chance of winning the nomination. Ditto Ron Paul. A tie, though, gives Santorum visibility, and likely gives him a primetime speech at the convention, and a possible VP slot.

I am getting the impression that the republican voters are deciding on who should run for president by comedy factor.

The issue flip-flopper and the guy who was almost out of the complete race come in first?

That is plain stupid :2 cents:

Bingo. A Romney-Santorum ticket would actually be really strong, with appeal for moderates, Tea-Partiers, and evangelicals. Plus, the fact that Santorum has been a dark ***** all this time means that there hasn't been much mud-slinging between he and Romney, making a partnership between the two halfway believable. Not saying I want it to happen... just finding it a plausible scenario.

Michele Bachmann Concedes 2012 GOP Primary Race After Iowa Caucus

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/04/michele-bachmann-concedes-iowa-caucus_n_1182490.html

After a poor showing in Tuesday night's Iowa caucus, Michele Bachmann announced that she will be ending her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

The conservative congresswoman from Minnesota addressed the decision at a press conference in Des Moines on Wednesday morning. Bachmann, who ran an Iowa-centric campaign, placed sixth in the state's 2012 caucus.

Ta, my sweet.
