Since Cannes is going on this weekend, I thought it might be timely to discuss our favorite actors and actresses. My favorites are based on 1. do I like their choice in roles, 2. would I like to sit down and have a conversation with them and 3. their overall "style", for lack of a better word.
Actors:
Philip Seymour Hoffman (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Capote, Almost Famous, etc.)
Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.)
Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski, Ghost World, Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, etc.)
Tom Cruise (I actually like a lot of his movies, but it would be interesting to sit down and pick his brain)
Actresses:
Evan Rachel Wood (Across the Universe, King of California, Pretty Persuasion, etc.)
Scarlett Johansson (Girl With the Pearl Earring, Match Point, The Prestige, etc.)
Gwyneth Paltrow (The Royal Tennebaums, Shakespeare in Love, Running With Scissors, etc.)
Angelina Jolie (not so much for her acting, but her work with the UN)
Seriously, I do think Philip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp are the two best (working) character actors in Hollywood.
