I'm sad because I think I'm too old to be in a girl group.

I'm pretty sure every child born between 1980 and 1993 dreamed of being in a girl group at one point or another. I was convinced I had what it took, too I mean, I was a horrid dancer, but I could sing and I had stage presence. I'm pretty sure all of the time I spent in children's theatre helped me gain enough confidence to do anything. Then I developed acid reflux and my voice changed, and then my parents were all "lol we're not investing $50,000 in your musical career" so I gave up. Now I just think I'm too old and if I tried I'd just look all dumb. plus there's the whole no other group member thing.

What dreams have you given up on?

I didn't dream of being in a Girl Group.

There's quite a few.

Although being a Game Show Host is probably the one that is furthest from ever coming to fruition.

I tried to revise the dream by becoming the first Game Show Host/Librarian but my education did not exactly prepare me well enough for an Industry that is slowly becoming extinct. (Libraries that is) Becoming a Game Show Host is further complicated by the fact that I am not a former Comedian/Actor of any kind.

So maybe I can become the first (as far as I know) Game Show Host/Librarian/Accountant

If I was younger or it became more legitimate earlier, I think I could have been a professional video game player. Don't know how well it would pay the bills but I think with proper dedication and training I could have been a contender.

I think you'd still do great in a Girls Group. My only selfish concern is that when you accomplish this you wouldn't likely be able to come around these parts as much anymore. Jaana withdrawal can be pretty serious. Pretty sure web MD Is putting together a fact sheet on it as we speak.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
You're young enough to be Madonna's grand-daughter. And if people will still pay to watch her shake her wrinkly ass on stage, surely there's hope for you! Keep the dream alive! :nanner: :D

Me? I gave up on ever being a (paid) professional racing driver. I do have an (expired) pro racing license. But only a mental patient, who just won the lottery (and forgot to take his meds), would pay me to race his car.

And even though I can't sing, dance or write songs, I bet I could have been in a girl group. I tried to get into The Bangles (while they were all drugged out) but they realized I wasn't a girl and canceled my audition. Bigots!

I'm a Musician who had dreams of playing in a big band the whole time I was growing up. I've played in a few bands, but they never went anywhere!

I play Drums, Guitar and Keyboard and work in my house recording room for fun but, I would still love to be in a gigging band someday that played original material!

Cheers
Jason-X

I always wanted to play in a gigging rock band. I've been a part of 2 bands, kind of; one of them we played 2 Nirvana covers and a Pink Floyd cover, and the other one we did a handful of 60's covers. In both cases our only gigs were that year's high school talent show. After high school I started butchering my way through jazz charts and forgot about rock for a while. Then I came to my senses, gave up on jazz, and seriously dedicated myself to classical guitar. 8 years after that I developed carpal tunnel and tendonitis and pretty much gave up playing guitar altogether. I've started and stopped playing at various points, most recently about a month ago, but my chops just aren't there anymore. Besides, every other musician that I know with whom I would potentially be able to start a band is already in a band, and is too busy for it, let alone another one.

What dreams have you given up on?

I was always hoping to be Superman when I grew up. Then I discovered that he was Kryptonian, and I was human, and that genetics was holding me back. So I did the only logical thing; I spent hours and hours messing around with the microwave oven hoping to change my genetic makeup via the radiation held therein. Sadly, I'm still no Kryptonian. Though to this day my pee still glows in the dark, so I've got that going for me... :dunno:

I'm still working on breaking into the top 100 DJ's on the DJ Magazine list. I'm playing this summer in Ibiza and Latin America. I produce tracks and made several remixes as well. Being in the (club/dance) DJ biz is a dog-eat-dog world to say the least. This year is the first time I can't make it to WMC in Miami... real bummers. :(

I've always wanted to go to space. Not to be an astronaut, but to get into space. Imagine watching the sun rise over the planet from orbit. I think my pants would explode from the sheer pleasure of it. While they are making huge leaps in pedestrian space travel, I doubt it will be within financial reach in my lifetime.

I think they were just looking for retired, married couples. They were looking for people who didn't have the majority of their lives ahead of them yet.

At my ripe old age I've learned that you really never give up your dreams. Circumstances come up and get in the way. Your plan for achievement is ruined but that hope is always there. Subconsciously they are only put onto a shelf that you will come back to find. From the earlies time that I could remember, the spoken word was always the most powerful tool in the world. Graduated with a degree speech communications and I was going to have my future in radio. I was Howard Stern at my college radio station when he was toiling in Hartford. 2 things stood in my way. I didn't have that rich, deep voice and the bitch I promised to marry wouldn't move to Nebraska. A shitty pay job doing early morning farm reports. Had I dumped her ass who knows what my life could have been.

Here I am years down the road. Created a horse racing website. People in the community are reading what I write. I do this part time just for a few pick up bucks and perks. Get myself onto a few radio and TV guest spots. Cool as it is I'm not quitting my day job. Funny as this happened, I never dreamed that I would make a buck this way because English was my worst subject in school.
