Is it just me or have online websites for various retailers begun the "sneaky" process of portraying items as "In Stock" only to find out AFTER the order has been placed, or, even more sneakier, after an inquiry is made as to the status of the shipment, that in reality, they are out-of-stock and no idea when the order will be fulfilled.
This was first a problem with LL.Bean. They atleast give accurate info when they expect items to be "restocked."
I have had this problem with Amazon, for books, the last 2 times I've placed book orders.
I just had this same problem with a sporting goods retailer. They were the worst about telling me when they were going to receive the "out of stock" items. They pre-charged my credit card for the items they had instock but, of course, wouldn't send me the items until "my order was completely received in house." I will never order online from them again. I have to wait 3-5 days until I figure out if my credit card company will reflect the "reimbursement."
I also had this problem with ABC's online website. I ordered some TV show fangear and one item I really needed, come to find out after the order was placed, after they sent me the "confirmation email"...they indicated, actually, sorry but "Item X won't be available until this later date."
Is this the norm for online retailing now? It's gotten to the point where you select items, press BUY and have to cross your fingers whether or not the items are actually instock....I'm serious.
I'm bent and pissed off....
