So I'm driving my ****** to school across town and a notice a cop behind me, so I start paying real close attention to my speed. Not too long after a stop sign when he caught back up he turned on the lights so I pulled over, naturally thinking he had more important things than to give me a ticket for going 4 mph over the limit at the most. So he pulled me over, came up to me and told me that I was going 40 in a 25 zone, naturally I got pissed and said (while keeping my cool) that the sign just past the stop sign (about 2-3 hundred yards away now) said 30mph, and that I know I did not go any faster than 34. So he looks at my license and asks if my address is current, the hands it back and lets me off with a warning, so I felt relieved. I go to pull away when I look in my side mirror to see a speed sign no more that 40ft away that said speed limit 30.
Now either 1 of 2 things is going on here, either he was serious when he pulled me over or he just wanted to ***** his power.
If he was serious, we were going through residential area, where speed limit is usually 25, but this was a main drag street, which is where he might have gotten the 25 speed limit. He also could have gotten that I was going 40 because after I left the stop sign, a car went across the intersection, and while trying to gauge my speed with his we had to be going 40 to catch me, and he is just terrible at judging if he is going the same speed.
Now in the almost impossible event he was serious, he had to have just been trying to hassle me. I believe this is true because, I pulled over right when I saw lights, he didn’t even have a chance to turn on siren. When he told me that the speed limit was 25, I said the sign back at the stop sign said 30, and he stumbled on his words slightly after that. Then when he told me I was going 40, I said that there’s no way I was going 40, because I was watching the needle the whole time he had been behind me. That’s when he asked to see my license then told me to slow it down. So my theory on this situation is that he was just going to say I was going 40 in a 25 zone and that I would just shut up and take the ticket.
If the second situation is true I **** cops like that and if the first is true people that dumb shouldn't be allowed to carry a ***. And that’s my rant!
