How to burn .wmv, avi, etc to DVD

Is there a way to burn various movie file types like .wmv, .mpeg,.avi to a DVD so they can be played on a standard DVD player?

Some DVD players can play those formats right off the bat, if you burn em as data. Google your DVD player and see what says.

I use Tmpgenc to encode the videos to mpg2 and DVD-lab Pro 2 to author the dvd, and i use Photoshop to make the menus.
