Avoiding that borefest like you did last year? I don't even check IMDb to get the results anymore. I guess that one film is no longer a good film because of social media postings years ago that prohibit people from now enjoying that film.

I used to watch them, when Hollywood had good enough writing that it was worth seeing them in a theater. I so rarely see movies in a theater, nowadays, I could care less.

(Google searches Best Picture nominees) - Wicked? Dune Part II? Eh....

I agree. Why are there hardly any good films anymore? Lack of effort? Shoddy writing? Problems with marketing/distribution? Creative types too timid and flaccid? Too much copy/paste from other stuff?

I don't know how long it's been that I've seen a Horror Movie that was scary or a Comedy that was funny.

How many remakes are there going to be of the Marvel Comics films? (1) Spiderman, (2) Iron Man? (3) Captain America? (4) Wolverine or X-Men, (5) Black Panther (6) Hulk, etc.

Same premise. Same story. Same old. Same old.

Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Don Heck, Joe Simon, and John Romita are all turning over in their graves.

I think the public has to speak with their dollars and say, "We're not putting up with this crap anymore. Create original stories or have empty theaters." Stop rewarding laziness and duplication. I'm a fan of the "Gritty 1970s" and like that era of films even though it seems filmmakers with those kind of guts are a dying breed or already dead.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

It's off topic, but do you get the same feeling about rock stars that have sold their catalogs, only to hear them on an advertisement. Every time I hear a great classic rock song being used to hock someones products, it makes me sad, and angry, and not want to buy it. Some are still alive, and I picture them with their head in their hands, wondering why they sold out. As far as on topic, and your post, I agree, but there are some I really want to see remade. No comic book stuff, I'm not into that, but I would love to see a Hanks/Spielberg collaboration on a remake of "The Battle of the Bulge".

Musicians are selling off their catalogs now during their lifetimes because of how harsh estate tax is. Look at what occurred with the valuations of the following estates: Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Dean Martin, Tom Petty and especially with Michael Jackson. IRS brought in their expert. The Jackson family had theirs. The judge ruled that the family had proper valuation on two parts of the Jackson estate. The IRS lost on their appraisal of future earnings and likeness. With regard to likeness, that's why we don't see Robin Williams anymore.

The lack of traction this thread got may be reflective of a lack of interest and ratings The Oscar's got. Seems the people involved with the production of The Oscar's are in such denial that their annual award show gets less and less relevant by the year. In the age of the internet with social media we can decide for ourselves what are the best film and performances having the whole world of movies at our fingertips to be exposed by then possibly order and view these films. I value the opinion of regular people on message boards more than professional film critics.

So .. the results of the Oscars are "in." And, I must say, I am NOT surprised. "Anora" cleaned up, with .. five Oscars. The Writer pulled a quad-fecta; the first time that has happened.

The story .. "validates" sex workers. With 1 in every 30 women in the US being on OnlyFans .. and "sex work is real work" .. and so on, and so on.

I'm really not one for .. conspiracy theories. But, I hear more and more about how .. entertainment is .. crafted to fit "the narrative." I'm starting to believe it.

Caveat: if / when prostitution is legalized in the US, I would be all for it.

I'm so stunned with Anora win the best picture in academy award , I'm not against it but feel Brutalist deserve it and I point out this movie was close to softcore porn tbh, check Parents Guide, I'm only thinking in future we might be see if studio like Digital Playground can make some serious movie and add like two or three HC sex scene and then follow the procedures made by the Academy Awards committee, Can the film be accepted or at least make it to the screening stage?

By the way

Oscars Hit 18.1 Million Viewers, Down 7% From Last Year
