Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
I feel compelled to tell you all that I have just been awarded a cash payment of $3.5 million US dollars from the Bank of Ghana!!! I will now be retiring and living the life of luxury that I so richly deserve. I submitted my resignation to my employer this morning and expect to have the funds transferred into my bank account any day now. Just so you know I am serious, here is a copy of the email I received from a prominent doctor in Ghana who directs their foreign operations in the ATM Card Department:

Prior to your Account normalization of your banking details has been delayed by International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Financial Services Authority. This has made it necessary for your payment to be programmed into HSBC Corporate Visa Card.
In this regard, the (ECOWAS) authority had instructed us to pay you your part payment of us $3.5 Million Dollars only) Three million, Five Hundred thousand united states Dollars, and it will be programmed in HSBC corporate Visa Card and send to you follow by the balance as schedule.
Therefore, the Bank of Ghana; working relationship with HSBC London has concluded to issue you a CORPORATE VISA CARD where your payment will be uploaded. This will now enable you either download your payment at any ATM Machine or at your bank. In conclusion, call me immediately you receive this message so that I will direct you properly for details;confirm your private phone/fax number so that we can as well reach you.
