I just went to this thread

http://board.freeones.com/showthread.php?t=238642

and clicked the link.

I went to view the vid, but it said I have not got the latest adobe flash player, so I clicked on that.

It downloaded a small file and I thought it was a genuine exe. file, but as soon as I did, my wallpaper disappeared and was replaced by white background and an obvious fake spyware warning.

Anyone know what has entered my pc and how to remove it?

Thanks guys.

I would just do a "search" for all files that have been created in the past 1 day(s). Delete everything you don't recognize and then reboot.

try downloading AVG Free Edition if you don't have protection, it's very good.

How do you do a search?

Click on "START", then go to "FIND", then go to "FILES OR FOLDERS".

Once you get there, go to the tab that says "DATE", click on "FIND ALL FILES" and change the options to search for all files "CREATED" during the previous 1 day(s).

That's how it works on my computer, anyway.

Right.

Start your computer in safe mode, by pressing F8 during boot, and then selecting safe mode.

Then just run any good anti-virus + spyware checker (like AVG) and it will (99.9%) of the time find the virus and delete it.

Then just restart computer as normally and you should be fine.

Finally, take it as a lesson in life, never to run any exe file, unless you know where it has been.:D

1) Shut down Windows.

2) Unplug your PC/ Monitor etc

3) Take the PC to your local PC repair shop

4) Leave it there

5) Never, ever touch a PC again... ever

I got the same fake antivirus/browser hijacker on my PC; I simply downloaded the free Spybot v1.6 using Mozilla, and it isolated the Trojan, and 2 viruses, PDQ. It works on IE6 and 7, so I had to use the Firefox browser to get the Spybot program.
After it cleaned them out everything went back to normal. There are many sites to get Spybot v1.6, and it is a friend. I run AVG Free, but it didn't stop the hijacker.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
Get spybot s&d, it's powerful enough to handles this kind of scamming.
Also get a virus scanner... AVG or antivir.
