Health Coverage: It has started

Nearly one in 10 employers to drop health coverage

About one in 10 employers plan to drop health coverage when key provisions of the new health care law kick in less than two years from now, according to a survey to be released Tuesday by the consulting company Deloitte.

Nine percent of companies said they expect to stop offering coverage to their workers in the next one to three years, the Wall Street Journal reported. Around 81 percent said they would continue providing benefits and 10 percent said they weren't sure.

The companies, though, said a lot will depend on how future provisions of the law unfold, since most of the key parts are scheduled to take effect in 2014. One in three respondents said they could stop offering coverage if the law requires them to provide more generous benefits than they do now, if a tax on high-cost plans takes effect in 2018 as scheduled or if they decide it would be cheaper for them to pay the penalty for not providing insurance.

Give it some time. This is only the start more comapnies will drop coverage.

Worst President ever. Vote him out, repeal everything he did.

Look at Massachusetts and Switzerland for example. In Massachusetts Romney passed health care reform and so far it has been successful with about 98% of residents insured. Back to the ACA, the bill passed by Obama is the same bill passed by Romney and it was the success of the Massachusetts reform that led Obama to settle on the model that we have today.

Twenty years ago Switzerland had a healthcare system very similar to America-private provider and insurer- with very similar problems. People didn’t buy insurance but ended up in emergency rooms, insurers screened out people with pre-existing conditions, and costs were rising fast. The country came to the conclusion that to make health care work, everyone had to buy insurance. So the Swiss passed an individual mandate and reformed their system along lines very similar to Obamacare.

The result two decades later: quality of care remains very high, everyone has access, and costs have moderated. Switzerland spends 11% of its GDP on health care, compared with 17% in the U.S. Its 8 million people have health care that is not tied to their employers, they can choose among many plans, and they can switch plans every year. Overall satisfaction with the system is high.

Very rare in politics are you able to do a dry run of a law before putting it into place. You have two examples in Massachusetts and Switzerland where very similar if not the same exact reforms were made and we are seeing the reforms being enormously successful.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
As I understand it, Obamacare is simply a way of making people buy health insurance.

Little Bush was the worst, most ineffective, non interested, piece of shit this country has ever seen. WE will suffer from his reign for decades to come and all your bullshit made up 'facts' will not change this. Put down your bible open your eyes and try to contribute to a solution instead of fanning the flames SHEEP!

Conspiracy...
yup Obamacare will not fix the healthcare crisis in the US

It will just penalize people who can't afford the extra tax.

In it's simplest terms yes. The big fuss is over the individual mandate which requires everyone to buy health insurance. However "Obamacare" as most like to call it is not an actual healthcare plan, it's simply a set of reforms.

I agree Will E Worm, he is the worst in history.

Maybe he is. But would you be able to do an objective comparison and contrast of the Obama presidency and that of say, Warren G. Harding or Herbert Hoover? Somehow, I doubt it.

So, while I believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion, fairly often, those opinions are based more on the emotion of the present day and not on actual historical facts.
