Just got wished a Happy New Year from my buddy next door. I will formally celebrate that in a month along with getting super-duper high on Hitler's birthday.

When you think of it, it does make more sense to start the new year at the beginning of spring, rather in the dead of winter. And I get the lunar new year is based on lunar cycles. But why did the Gregorian calendar decide to start when they did?
