Greatest Band/Performer and Song of All Time

I want the best artist and the best song.
Song does not have to come from the same artist.

So ?

Greatest performer (as in artist, not musician) of all time is probably Michael Jackson IMO. That guy could dance, sing, had catchy songs and generally put out very interesting shows.

Just 2 things, people.
Artist & Song (forget the performer thing)

It's easier to pick out what you hate than what you love :D

I'm gonna have to get back to you on that :hatsoff:

I can't answer that too...
But maybe I'll start a new poll on the "Which artist do you hate ?" :)

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Jimi Hendrix:The Star Spangled Banner.

Greatest guitarist of all time, playing the greatest song of all time.

There's a couple of ways to go on this, from the completely personal. First time you see your kids on stage etc All the way up to songs which were deemed to be game changing in their significance. I'm not into Al Jolson so I can't comment on his impact in the Jazz Singer, but on the pop front the sixties seems to have all the big occasions covered - Dylan going electric, the Beatles on Ed Sullivan or Elvis from the waist down etc.

For collective anthems you will not in my opinion ever come close to beating the sound of a stadium full of Welshmen as they sing their national anthem. It brings the hairs up on the back of your neck. I am not Welsh and I have no idea what they are saying but for sheer emotion this performance cannot be beaten. Ever.

As far as artist just look at the avatar. Song, today I'll go with Dreams by the Allman's. Of course my mood might change and be something completely different in an hour.
