Nobody knows her here. I didn't either, until i got together with my husband and got "forced" to watch and know about the golden era of Italian cinema and its "actors" and, among others, i watched How to Murder Your Wife, starring the great Jack Lemmon and ...Virna Lisi.
She died yesterday. Having watched some other early movies with her as well as some late ones, where she shows how beautiful a woman can age gorgeously, i don't feel sad, but i feel for her death. Here is the original Italian commercial which launched her in the early 60's. Please, tell me that she is not beautiful.
RIP

I sadly never heard of her before, either. Being a European, that is slightly more strange, because italian films are being played here not so rarely, even if it's in cinemas that specialize in art movies.

What strikes me watching this clip is her sotto vocals, lke Sophia Loren had. That is very sexy, in my opinion, and her very esy and relaxed performance adds to this.

She left a legacy in her movies!

I didn't knew her, but strangely, the name rings a bell, it's a name I already had heard/read. So I checked her wikipedia page and realised she had a part as Catherine of Medicis in Patrice Chereau's Queen Margot, a part for wich she won the Best Actress Award in Cannes Film Festival 1994 and the César Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1995 (the Césars are the frech equivalent of the Oscars).

RIP to her

Well said Sabrina . I suppose that when we communicate in a certain language, it is easy to overlook talent and gifted performers working in countries which communicate in a different language. Italian Cinema - great movies and gifted performers. One of who is Virna Lisi (Rest In Peace)
A beautiful woman most defintely , among beauties
