Well, it is prearranged who will win. But, they have to be able to perform and they have to be in top condition. Some wrestlers have been in UFC and other such organizations. Kurt Angle is a gold medal winner.
As for "fake" you can't fake getting hit with a chair, being thrown through a table, and all the many other bumps they take. As for the blood it is real. They use concealed razors not blood packets.
That has been a long time myth.
I doubt anyone would jump into a wrestling ring and say this is fake. They wouldn't walk out of the ring.

The chair and tables and so on are not always weakened, even then they are dangerous. I've heard about and seen wrestlers break bones because of the bumps they have to take to keep their jobs.
Especially in the WWE. McMahon likes to push people too far.
There's plenty of risks. That's why wrestlers die early or sustain career ending injuries. More than any other sport.
I don't know who you're looking at, but they have plenty of scars and so on.
I know a bit more than other fans because I was going to become a wrestler. It's a tough business.

This death was not physical damage from another wrestler it was a pre fight (act) stunt gone wrong were he feel from about 50 ft (lowered into ring), smashing his chest onto the top rope
The cause of death was revealed to be internal bleeding from blunt chest trauma.
