Gaines Adams, RIP...

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams died Sunday morning in Greenwood, S.C. He was 26.

Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey told NFL Network that Adams was experiencing “health issues” Sunday, so his girlfriend called for an ambulance. Adams arrived at Self Regional Hospital just after 8 a.m. ET and was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 8:21 a.m.

Coursey said Adams had no history of health problems. An autopsy and a toxicology report are planned to determine the cause of death.

Adams lived in Greenwood, according to WYFF TV, and played collegiately at nearby Clemson.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Adams fourth overall in 2007, and he had 13.5 sacks in 37 games with the team. He was traded to the Bears on Oct. 16 in exchange for a 2010 second-round draft pick and played in 10 games.

The Bears, who have former Bucs defensive coach Rod Marinelli coaching their line, believed Adams had the potential to be an impact player in the mold of Simeon Rice.

Being a lifelong Bears fan, this hurts. Not only is it sad that a player from my favorite team has passed on, but at such a young age. For someone who was so young and in, what appeared to be, such a good physical condition, this death has certainly come as a huge surprise.

I got a text this morning from the Clemson website saying this. It's a sad day on campus with the loss of him. He will be missed.

RIP 93 forever

Wow! That's horrible, I also am a fan of his... great potential gone but more importantly a loved one lost to his family. I also lost a brother at a young age due to an enlarged heart and consequent problems.

RIP Gaines Adams

Tragic. So young and all that Promise. He had his whole life in front of him. My heart goes out to his family, his fans and the Bears.

Early coroner report stated he had an enlarged heart. I've never understood why that is a bad thing. Medically speaking, that is.

It is sad when someone who is doing things the right way like him gets stricken down just when they are beginning to become interesting as people.

The autopsy was scheduled for today. We should find out more info tomorrow.

Wow this is sad. RIP Gaines Adams.

That is so sad. I wonder what his “health issues” were.

Probably steroids...

REALLY SAD. When someone dies that's younger than you, it really makes you think about your own mortality. I hope my steroids prediction is wrong, but if that's what caused his enlarged heart, then young athletes need to step back and think about what they are putting in their bodies.
