The best thing I ever had in my life was actual pure Italian gelato when I went to visit friends in Italy this year. They made it fresh right in store with ingredients that they'd get at the the market in the city, and I was lucky enough to see them make fresh raspberry once before I left. Have a bowl of that with chocolate or vanilla and :drool2:
In terms of what I prefer in America though, I'm partial to just about anything. I only wish that there was a place around to get good soft-serve ice cream/frozen yogurt instead of just always having to buy it out of the freezer case at the store, where it's always just hard and cold.
