From "To **** A Mockingbird" To "Go Set A Watchman"--Harper Lee's New Novel Arriving
Harper Lee--the author of the much-beloved 1960 novel To **** A Mockingbird--has a new novel, titled "Go Set A Watchman," due out soon. Many consider it the publication of the decade, considering Lee's secrecy over the years. But already snippets of the content of the work are filtering out, and the results are making purists of her first novel uneasy. "Watchman" is in effect a sequel to "Mockingbird." It tells the story of a grown-up Jean Louise--or Scout, as we know her--returning home to Alabama from her her place in New York. What she sees in her home town is very different than the hope portrayed in the first novel, and recreated in the Oscar-winning film. Or is it? What are you guys' opinions?
