For All You Drummers Out There

Who do you guys think are the greatest drummers ever?
Mine are:
1: John Bonham
2: Keith Moon
3: Ginger Baker
4: Jimmy Chamberlin
5: Dave Grohl

I know people are gonna get pissed that I didnt put Neil Peart....he's good, but hasnt had a huge influence on me.

Dave Grohl has to be in there, aswell as being a very talented man. Also Travis Barker (Blink182) and Vinnie Paul (Pantera).

wanted to add Tito Puente to my original post, too.

(Damn wife keeps interupting me wanting to show me paint colors and curtains for the bedroom)

Mike Portnoy -Dream Theater
Dave Lombardo -Slayer
Thomen Stauch -Blind Guardian
Mikky Dee-Motorhead / King Diamond/Helloween
Charlie Benante -Anthrax

I can't stand Neil Peart by the way.

Stewart Copeland -- The Police. Hands down. Most talented rhythmicist/percussionist of our generation. 2nd is Neil Peart from RUSH. Alex Van Halen #3. Just my :2 cents:

But if you're counting programmed rhythms, we have another poll altogether....LOL! Drum machines can do the humanly-impossible, and, contrary to everyone's beliefs, EVERY DAMNED BEAT has to be put in there manually (I know, I write music and program it myself, and percussion is a LOT of work!)...so yeah, it's TALENT! Gotta love it! LOL ;) :) :nanner:

Mike FUCKING Portney!!!!!

I have yet to see anyone more technically skilled at drumming than him IMO.

Also Tommy Lee. Best Showman on the drums.

Well... all of the aformentioned drummers notwithstanding, I'm going to reach back into the early to mid-60's and pull out a drummer's name that most of you "young'uns" (j/k - meant with humor) won't be familiar with UNLESS you're well versed in the 60's surf music scene:

Sandy Nelson

You may have heard him on such songs as:

(01). Tequila (cover)
(02). Wipeout (cover)
(03). Let There Be Drums
(04). And Then There Were Drums
(05). Teen Beat

He played a lot with Duane Eddy of the "twangy" guitar sound (i.e., Rebel Rouser, Peter Gunn Theme, etc.)

Anybody who can pull off the complex rhythm and percussion structure of the song Wipeout is a god in my book!

1. Neil Peart
2. Bill Bruford
3. Phil Collins
4. Chester Thompson
5. Buddy Rich
Not necessarily in that order

Nicko can jam it up also, his kit is awesome. Tommy Lee is awesome aswell.

I wont even get started on the piece of crap Lars Ulrich.

I agree....Lars is an abysmal nightmare on the drums, notice all the same ass tired beats in nearly every Metallica song.Nothing new from him ever...I have a video of him doing a drum solo and its a total crapfest.

Hes the worst in my book of "Human shame", and thats the bottom line.

Chris Adler- lamb of god
Lars
Vinnie
Joey jordison- slipknot ( i know i know, still a fuckin awesome drummer)

what kinda sets do you guys have?

I have a Mapex set with all kinds of different brands between

This pic was from a gig we played in October of last year, its not the best pic of my set but it will do.

I won't get into it either but I fucking HATE Lars Ulrich. He is such a whiny mediocre bitch.

Nicko kicks heavy ass on drums. Saw him live about a year ago and he and the rest of Maiden kicked the shit out of me with their killer metal. :banger:

I like alot of the guys that have already been mentioned especially Dave Grohl.

One of my favs. is David Silvera of KoRn, not as much because of his playing ability but because of his emotion/power.

A few others:
John Dolmayan (System of a Down)
Mike Bordin (Faith No More)
Matt Cameron (Soundgarden)
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
