Fire reaches hillside next to Olympia

This really annoyed me. I've seen developers destroy an area to sway local government to grant building permits. Twice in a Northern state building permits were held up, one in a natural area and the other with a historic designation. Developers bulldozed acres of trees in the first in pursuit of permits to build 5,000 homes. They were then granted the stalled permits after paying a $5,000 fine. In the second case designated landmarks were knocked down also to build homes, and I believe complaints afterward were tossed out of court as an error of the developer.

ANCIENT OLYMPIA, Greece - The fires consuming southern Greece raced toward the site of the ancient Olympics on Sunday, engulfing entire villages and forests as it reached the hillside next to one of the most revered sites of antiquity.
