I don't like chain restaurants. Never did. I don't think the food or service is that good. My neighbor took me to Olive Garden which was better than I expected, but I'd be unlikely to go again. Red Lobster owned by the same people, I absolutely can't stand.

around here there are two others that are good IMO. Portillo's and Key Wester (not sure on the spelling of that last one) They are owned by the same people. the first is beff, hamburgers (awesome!) and hotdogs. the other is seafood. pricey, but good!

Experiment with what's available near where you live or travel, and if nothing, maybe go a little further out, or ask people. Right now, I have 4 local favorites that I think beat any of the chain places. Home cooked American food, buffet style, a Chinese, a seafood place and an Italian place. Prices are great at all 4. One was right down the street, another had a coupon in the paper, my neighbor took me to another, and one I read about in the paper after winning an award.

TGI Fridays is pretty good, so I chose that. However it is INSANELY overpriced in my opinion.

Applebees is my main choice though, best burger and fries on the planet.

ruth chris steakhouse - I hear it's the shit! Gotta check it out at tax time, to damn expensive other wise.

applebees - good damn food, decent price!
