'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor !!

:1orglaugh

Wow, this is strong evidence that we really need to drop the epithet "retard" as an insult, and just replace it with Palin (as a general insult meaning "idiot that embraces and treasures their ignorance"):

Short excerpt:

One person who supports the “Family Guy” staff is Andrea Fay Friedman, the 39-year-old actor and public speaker who played Ellen in that episode. Like the character, Ms. Friedman also has Down syndrome.

In an e-mail message sent on Thursday to The New York Times, Ms. Friedman wrote:

I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life.

I hardly think she lacks a sense of humour. It's more that her sense of humour is a little more respectable in a way. Same as me in a way. I don't laugh at people's illnesses or things like that. And I don't find shows funny that do!.

I'd be curious to know what she has ever said or done that is a good demonstration of her sense of humor...

She defended Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" (which he used in the exact same way that Rahm Emanuel did - as an insult) as "satire" - so she knows satire when she sees it??

BTW, Ravenholm, what is your avatar pic about?

Oh I know of her past exploits and what she's said. I too have used the retard word like while shouting at the screen when playing video games. I guess what I meant was that I don't go and act out the illnesses of people and try to get a laugh out of it like some tv shows do. I have to draw the line somewhere.

The avatar of mine is the Wolfenstein logo from Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PC). It is supposed to spin round and round in the picture but on here it doesn't. The actual GIF picture I have in a folder on my PC does though, it spins round and round.

Family Guy lacks a sense of humor.

Or, we could say, only a palin would find it funny.

Wasn't there a time when politically correct doctrine adopted by liberals mandated that this kind of humor was unacceptable? Or is it only acceptable if the target happens to be a conservative?

Please elaborate. From what I can tell, I see nothing in the Family Guy episode which should bother liberals.

And, as the whole Palin/use of the word "retard" episode illustrates perfectly, the phrase "politically correct" is long past meaningless at this point. It's a phrase employed by conservatives to just refer to whatever they don't like at any given moment...

I watched that episode, and that line made no sense at all. Why is Palin upset about a line that they just crammed into the show? It wasn't funny at all, it was just really stupid. Hell, it took me awhile to even figure out they were talking about Palin.

SNL had to pull a skit about Chelsea Clinton.

Family Guy should have to pull this.
They should have known better.

Seth McFarlane attacking a baby is low.
I doubt it gets any lowing than that.

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

I can't stand Family Guy ever since they resurfaced back in 2005. I enjoyed the show when it first came on up to 2003.

Now they just become nothing but stupid drivel with drawn out scenes that aren't funny to begin with, they just go on way too long, and try way too hard to be offensive it isn't funny, nor really offensive, it is just stupid and has none of that Family Guy charm it used to have and be able to pull it off. It's just become a shitty show.

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

I've only watched a handful of Family Guy episodes over the years. And I haven't seen this one. But from what I know, Family Guy bases its humor on things like child molestation, bestiality, incest, etc. And the last episode I watched, there was a neighbor in a wheelchair and they made fun of him (or is that The Simpsons?). Why is a religious wingnut/tight ass like Palin watching a show like that to begin with?

Anyway, Palin is one of those women who seems to look for things where she can claim victim status. From early on, she's been that way. After she made her famous line about hockey moms, pitbulls and lipstick, and someone said something about putting lipstick on a pig, she's made herself out to be a victim of something or another.

How about this? Maybe ol' Sarah P. should spend a little more time learning about economics and foreign policy (and speaking about those topics), and a little less time watching cartoons, talking to Oprah and reading the National Enquirer to see what Levi has said about her, so she can have something else to whine about. She gave a speech to a pro family group last year and she spent the first fifteen minutes or so talking about the fish and natural resources in Alaska. The people in the audience were polite, but you could tell they were confused. She was basically reading off a page that seemed like it was taken from an encyclopedia or some tourist pamphlet. There's definitely something wrong with that woman... I just don't know what it is. It's like she has the mind and emotions of a 12 year old girl or something.

I know she has some uber fans on this board. So maybe one of them can tell me what her beliefs are in regard to tax policy, macro economics or foreign policy??? IMO, she just hunts for any & all stories that allow her to latch onto another media moment = attention whore.

Palin fucked up. She didn't check into it before her response. That's it plain and simple.

I very much doubt she actually did. If I were to guess I would say her "people" probably fed the story to her as a good way to further the exposure of this complete non-issue.

You've got to keep the crap relevant, I mean it's not like there are more important things to be discussed.

But then again, maybe she did watch it. It'd be out of character, but who knows.....

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

SNL had to pull a skit about Chelsea Clinton.
No one attacked anyone with the last name Palin.
Family Guy should have to pull this.
They should have known better.

Not sure what for...the only said in the show was downs and former Alaska gov. The name Sarah, Trig, Todd nor Palin was ever uttered. Palin and critics just assume she is being talked about. It's a fictional show...They can make up almost any circumstance..just like what was done here. Most of the details of the episode have nothing to do with suggesting they're talking about Palin.

Anytime downs and Alaska are mentioned heretofore it necessarily is a swipe against Palin???

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

Everyone with even a little sense knew who they were eluding to.

Palin could have just as easily responded with the fact that her husband isn't an accountant nor does she have a teenage daughter with D/S.

Case closed.

I can honestly say I have never watched a full episode of Family Guy, so I think I am spared.

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

It's more that her sense of humour is a little more respectable in a way.
Nobody's sense of humor is more respectable than the next. Humor is subjective.

Palin really needs to just fade into obscurity.

Re: 'Family Guy' Voice Actor (Woman w/ Down Syndrome) Says Palin Lacks Sense of Humor

Family Guy should do some "Obama/Michelle and the kids" jokes. That oughta go over fairly well with the Daily Kos crowd.
Problem is, McFarlaine would never do that.
