There are regulations to own them catered to the population. If I did live in an area that was a threat to my personal safety I might want to have one. Don't take that right away from me. They did their jobs and should at least be allowed to carry since they never know when they'll encounter a criminal from their past. I'll put politicians, judges, and lawyers in there since they have threats to their lives too.

Want and right is where this debate comes into question. If you want a ***, there are regulation in place that even you know about since you own them. This is a part of your right to own them but with rights come responsibilities. We have rights to have ******** but when they throw a rock through somebody's window you've got to pay. We can do the best we can to sort out the nuts from the responsible citizens just like yourself. You jumped through the hoops to get your guns but what stops you from going into your local theater and snapping?

In Australia I knew a forensic detective. His jurisdiction was a very large, but sparsely populated area, maybe around 200 thousand people, and he averaged a cop suicide about every week. I asked him if the job was really that stressful that all these cops were ******* themselves and he said no, when most people get depressed to the point of suicide they have to come up with some sort of plan and gather some tools to do the job, a cop has a *** on his belt. Same goes for people snapping on others, I don't think I can remember a day when I haven't been irritated by someone, and the more people we have carrying guns in public places the more likely incidents like this one are to occur. People snap on each other all the time, having instant access to a *** can never do anything to improve those situations.
