Colombian forensic police have now asked the Dutch embassy in the capital Bogota to supply fingerprints and dental record of Ms Nijmeijer.

The move has been interpreted as a desire by the military to establish the identity of rebels ****** in the raid, although the Dutch Foreign Ministry has not confirmed this.

Ms Nijmeijer has been the subject of a documentary and a book after she joined the Colombian guerrillas a number of years ago.

Nicknamed the "guerilla chick" by the Dutch press, Ms Nijmeijer has been the subject of a documentary and a book after she joined the Colombian guerrillas a number of years ago.

Luduin Zumpolle, a Dutch human rights activist and FARC expert who co-authored the book, said she believed the 32-year-old had been ****** in last week's raid.

'She is most likely among the 100 or so FARC fighters who were ****** in the ******,' Ms Zumpolle said.

FARC member: Ms Nijmeijer is believed to have been a member of the rebel group since 2002

The camp attacked by the military has been described as the '****** of all FARC camps' and included a warren of tunnels and included a concrete bunker for protection against air strikes.

A number of male and female bodies were discovered after the raid but many more are thought to have ****** when tunnels collapsed.

Ms Nijmeijer travelled to Colombia in 1998 on an internship as an English teacher.

She later returned after completing her studies and worked for an aid organisation before joining FARC's urban wing in 2002 and then eventually a jungle unit in the south of Colombia.

The 32-year-old made headlines around the world in 2007 when excerpts of her diaries were found by the Colombian army and made public.

In the diary she described FARC attacks in Bogota and her life in the jungle.

Her parents have long campaigned for her to return to the Netherlands, with her ****** even visiting in the jungle in 2005, but she appeared to have no interest in leaving the rebel organisation.

Last week FARC's military commander Mono Jojoy was ****** in a raid but the group has pledged to continue its fight for what it called 'democratic peace with social justice'.
