Military parades can be good or bad, it all depends on their meaning, on why you do them :
Military parades like they do in North Korea are basically propaganda from the government. It's the government telling to their people and to other countries "Look how strong we are, look at all these tanks, these missiles, these soldiers. We're invincible".
Military parades like the one we have in France on Bastille Day is about the people paying tribute to their military. It's the government telling the people "These men (and women) choosed to fight for the country, for the nation, be prooud of them, be thankful to them". It's the military teling the people "We're proud to fight for our country, for our nation, for each and everyone of you". And it's the people telling the military "Thank you for protecting ou country, protecting our nation, protecting us".
Among the military parading in France on Bastille Day, there are soldiers, officers but also cops, firefighters, mountaign rescuers, sea-rescuers, coast-cuards, etc.
Often times, they specifically select units who just came back from foreign operations, units who took casualties, units who had been particulary solicited, etc.
And the french Bastille Day military parade is also a historic tradition from right betwen the Revolution and before Napoleon. over History, it tooks difference forms, has been organised on different locations, some governments cancelled it (but the nxt government always reinstated it. And when France was under nazi occupation, french soliders loyal to De Gaulle had a parade in London).
Again, it is all about why Trump wants a military parade : Does he just wants to flaunt the power of the US military or does he want a moment of unity between the people and the military ?
