Does the Mac make for a good porn surfing machine?

Or is a Windows machine much better? I have been thinking about a buying a Mac lately but wonder if how much stuff out there works only on a PC.

For example a number of sites only render properly in IE. How would these sites fare on a Mac?

Will a Mac play broken or unfinished .avi's like a PC can?

Does a Mac have sufficient codec support for all of the different formats out there?

Well, if you want your PC to die because of porn viruses, go with a PC. Macs don't have those problems.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I work in I.T. now, and the myth that Macs are somehow indestructible masterpieces of computerized perfection is hilarious. Our call center's calls are predominantly mac users who have frozen up, been locked out, or other technical glitches.

Macs, to be fair, are incredibly good with media because of the really nice interfaces they have for that. And they are also really good personal computers in general, but this whole "Macs are better.... no, PCs are better" thing is silly.

They are different. And each has their good points and bad points. When it comes to viewing porn by surfing, I think you're good either way.

But if you're editing a porn movie- might want to use a mac.

Let's just say if an idiot like myself can access porn on a Mac without any issue than anybody should be able to.

Again, I don't think it matters what the hell kind of machine you have. A jpg is a jpg, and a video clip is a video clip. It's more about connection speed and monitor resolution, I would think, than whether Apple or Dell makes your machine.

You would have a hard time to get spyware, adware on your Mac. (Remebering that apparently lots of it comes "preinstalled" on your PC.)

In order to see many of those jpegs and wmv/mov files, many websites launch (or try to launch) trojans and worms. These have, in my 4 years or so of Mac experience, never ever affected my system. I won't even explain any further the same problems that are avoided when using P2P.

I spend an awful lot of time on this board, clicking as many links as I can every day, looking for "illegal" links. I've done this for almost 3 years already - and I've never, ever had a problem. (You may say that you haven't either, but that's because we try and delete the problem links that we find and that are reported. What you you do if you got a reported post that a link crashed someone's system?... or that it set off their Norton alarms?...;) )

I can't give you any advice about Mac reliability from an IT POV. But, it's strange that a Mac user would call someone outside of Apple because you have 90 days of telephone support directly from Apple and a one year warranty.

(Don't forget about the fact that Mac uses OSX as an operating system and that PCs use Windows, which is not an OS but just a program.)

I'm not trying to sell you and I am certainly not some geek Apple devotee. It makes zero difference to me what you use.

I am simply telling you that once you have verified that a Mac run any special programs that you may need (remember the newest Mac can run most Windows software too - with the same software based security weaknesses) spending a little bit more for a Mac can make very good sense.

hedonis is right. a computer is a computer. ive had my pc for well over a year now, and have yet to have a single virus or any kind of spyware. adware is a different story though.

on the flip side, give me a mac and i guarantee i can destroy one. it all depends on the user and not the machine.

With mac now running on intel u will be able to use both Mac OSX and Windows so a mac will be a better choice coz u got the best of both worlds ;)

I find it hallarious that your major point of buying a computer is it's ability to surf porn sites:rofl: Props for that . BTW, I think I'll be buying a Mac for my next computer.

So for editing the songs on my upcoming albums and music production in general, do you guys recommend macs? Any particular models for this type of thing, in the 300-1000 usd price range?

Sincerely
Fox

I don't think you can get one for under $1000, unless you get it used. Mine was $1500, and it's not a top of the line model either.

I had mine custom assembled for 1000€ with top components, never had a virus or a trojan since 2003. I was and am mainly using norton and no probs.

For all the bad things you can get because people use porn as a lure to put things on your computer, if you can protect it from that it will probably hold up to just about anything. :1orglaugh
