Does anyone know where to get depleted uranium small arms ammunition?

I was going to google it but with the new NDAA act I'm a little wary. Still, the board is nothing if not small arms literate, so post links if you have any info.

No such thing and it would be massively expensive even if it did exist. Your best bet is to purchase a bulk quantity of tungsten steel, mill it to the diameter/shape that you want your bullets to be, and then precisely bond the cores to a copper alloy jacket in such a way as to avoid any splitting, cratering or shearing of said jacket from said core under the massive stresses induced by impact against hardened structures, not to mention the ubiquitous sandbag and the emplacements used therein.

It really is as simple as that.

Call Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I'm sure he has some, or knows someone who does.

Some guy was talking about it on the radio the other night and it sounded really effective. (Cancer and the other host of medical side-effects aside.)

No. Depleted uranium is used in tank, cannon and artillery shells. It's not used in anything that classifies as "small arms". It might be an interesting experiment in large bore sniper rounds and such, but even then I doubt it would have any decided advantage over conventional armor-piercing bullets. In terms of handgun/submachine gun ammo, it would be a complete waste of effort and an expensive one.

And I doubt that even if it did exist, the danger of cancer, etc wouldn't exist because of the much lower impact velocity/momentum. The danger from the big shells comes from the fact that the explosive power is so great that some of the DU turns to dust and now blows down peoples lungs. You wouldn't get that from a rifle round.

DHS is probably tracking you right now. What a dumb thing to ask on an internet forum.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
You are in no way, shape, or form, are you allowed to possess ANYTHING of that nature. Even depleted uranium, is still radioactive, and highly regulated. Even the military supposedly stopped using it in their A-10 Warthogs. In fact, if you should by some chance ever find any, anywhere, chances are, it's a Federal sting, and you'll be arrested, tried, and imprisoned for buying it.

On a side note, if you are aware of a magazine called "The Shotgun News", you will have seen advertisements in the back, that offer the ONE AND ONLY part, that none of the other ads offer, for converting a semi auto, to full auto....those are ATF setups. You get the part, and ONLY that one part, and it's enough to arrest, and try you for possession of an illegal dangerous devise.

I could get a guy to tell you, but I KNOW (for a Fact) he would have to Kill you. But basically I may have been informed, .50 Cal is the normal for smaller, along with certain teams may have the tipped ammo in .458 (not a typo try goggle). But it would be highly illegal for any civilian to have such a thing in any US or NATO country.

Oh and yes that term already has you monitored, so be-careful. KISSES

Me I just love a nice sized weapon, with any good Hot load.

DHS: Did you here that Stan? It was a joke. He had me going there for a minute.
Stan: Yea, me too. We'll just grab his hard drive and shit and I'll see you back at the office.
DHS: Cool. What do you say after I process this guy we grab some Quisnos?

Honey, I've been on the list since 1984 at the very least. Luckily, it is a very, very long list.
