Yes, I cheer for Tiger the player. He hits shots on the golf course that make me say "Wow." I've followed his career since he was winning amateur championships. He'll always be one of my favorite athletes.
As for Tiger the person, I chastise him in public, but give him a high five when no one is looking. Why do I give a fuck if he cheated on his wife?

I'm pretty down on the guy not because he cheated but more for his flippant attitude about it.
It's his life of course but there are allot of people that ride on the fire engine that is Tiger Woods. Maybe it's just the way the guy is but his apology was a sincere as a 6.78 dollar bill and his actions succeeding the 'apology' bore on the insincerity of it.
I don't want the guy to do bad but until he gets his head out of his ass...meh.

What I really want for the game is some stud to actually come up and start to play the way he did in the 90s. I don't know if I see it in Rory and I don't see it in any other player...probably never will in my lifetime. He is simply a once in a lifetime player. Character-wise not so much, but the talent is undeniable.
I still say he finishes with 22 (5 more) majors when it's all said and done.

I tend to agree but to a point...but his pay days still rely on a people to be able to identify with him and relate to his character...

I cant relate with any sports professional because I dont get paid to play games all day. If anything what he did just brought more attention to the golf community for better or for worse. And for most men we can relate with wanting pussy.

Since I am a genuine golf player and viewer of the sport I watch irregardless of Tiger is in the field or not and it never occurred to me to cheer for him.

Sure, he's a pompous ass bereft of any remorse for his actions. Still a hell of a fucking golfer though. And in the end, that's what matters. They're not role models, Sir Charles.
Everyone I know who rooted for him pre-scandal was rooting for him at Augusta this year, women included. They might not agree with his behavior, but they're sill in his corner when he competes. Once the winning starts, all will be forgotten. He's bigger than the scandal. It doesn't overshadow what he does on the course. And that's why he'll have it all back one day.
