Do you guys think women should be allowed to serve in the military (SF)?

Two of my buddies were talking about why women aren't allowed to be in the special forces. There really was no logical reason between them during the argument. One of my buddies is a female who would do anything to just try out for the special forces. My other buddy (who's a guy) just doesn't see it happening anytime soon.

It's not really a conflict of if they should be allowed to or not between them as much as it's a reason of why not. Both sides disagree on the views, but they think everyone should have their shot.

I wasn't really involved, but it baffles me kind of and I'm wondering about it. I played mostly the camera man during the discussion. I'm not military so it's shut up civilian when they're discussing military issues (well other things to if I'm winning the argument, but that's besides the point).

I am still surprised women aren't allowed to join the special forces.

Anyone know why this is? Is there actually a logical reason behind this?

Please keep the respect for both views.

one of the reasons women arent allowed in is because what happens at that time of the month

I think it might be a bad idea because women make men stupid, not necessarily through any fault of their own. Also, as a 6'2", 250 pound man, I wouldn't like to be shot in a firefight and have to rely on a woman dragging me to safety, no matter how dedicated or disciplined she is.

What if I got shot I don't care who drags me out as long as I get dragged out man that is pride talking and sometimes you got to let pride go I think they can make great soilders.as long as they shot stright and shot the right person.:2 cents:

There are logical reasons why women shouldn't be admitted to forces which specialize in covert battlefield deployments IMO.

There are female biological traits that are not conducive to all types of deployments. Every team member should be able to make all deployments. If not, they shouldn't make any....Hence that member shouldn't be a part of that type of team IMO.

As long as they can find a way to stop some of their biological functions that would be a problem (and I don't even know if that's always possible) and they are that skilled I wouldn't have a problem with it. However, you have to keep in mind that just in other aspects of our society where physical dominance is important at the highest levels, like professional sports for instance, the number of women that would be reasonably qualified even if they are allowed is practically zero. At the very lest they would be so rare as to be almost unique if any of them could do it at all.

Now for things that involve stuff other than combat there is a need for women for a variety of reasons, like spying or maybe even just reconnaissance. A women might be able to do things that a man couldn't or at least more easily do it like go places they aren't allowed, or might be able to gain trust more easily in certain situations so they're needed. There might be situations where it's easier to let women deal with other women also. As far as combat roles go I can see why women generally wouldn't be allowed to do most of it.

Eh?!? There are loads of women in sports. Granted not competing with men but more than physically capable to be at the peak of fitness.

If there is a job to be done, you get the right person or team to get it done. Personal traits mean nothing compared to ability.

However, there is the aspect that if she gets captured and the almost certain atrocities that will be committed against her. If she were fully briefed on that and can deal with that, there should be no excuses except the PR disaster and the media circus to follow. (were it to happen)
