Do you eat any "hipster" food?

By which I mean any sort of food/trend that has caught on in the last decade or so. Superfoods, vegetarian, non-GMO, literally anything that might sound like something a millennial would post about on social media.

I've recently gotten into veggie meat. I used to hate veggie burgers (literally tasting like cardboard, which many still do), but these days I've gotten accustomed to veggie sausages, bacon & ground beef. They're not perfect, but I'm finding that with the seasoning & improved texture they're pretty acceptable. They last a lot longer in the fridge (over a month!) so it's easy to stock up during a sale, and of course they're undeniably healthier.

My wife does, but I prefer the real thing. I will eat some of the healthier stuff she buys, some is okay, some not. She has made some good vegan meals, that I eat as a side dish, and a couple that I would just add meat to, and have it like a casserole. When I make certain dishes, like pasta figoli (pasta fazool), I'll make it without sausage, and add it to mine as I eat it.

But the way they throw new cooking shows on T.V> one after the other, with hip new younger chef's, it's hard to even know what food fad is out there. It's probably to expensive too.

LOL, so true.
I've always thought that obesity wouldn't be a problem if healthy food was cheaper than junk food.
And those artisan restaurants with their "reduction" stuff that is basically a teaspoon of food that costs $20 a pop... screw that.

That's why I tried these veggie meats. They're the same price as real meat, and they last a lot longer in fridge. Also, when you cook them, you're just doing it to heat it up, and not to kill bacteria, etc. So there's no need to overcook or spend much time on the heat. The bacon doesn't have any grease and cleanup is easy too.

That's cool that you cook your meals as a vegetarian base (& add on later), so that you and wife can still enjoy the same meal.

A lot of times it's easier, you just defrost ready cooked, diced chicken breast, or diced up ham. It's easier because you don't have to use more pans, and such. When she makes me a burger, and her a beyond meat thing, separate pans, and spatulas. She is flexible with certain things, like she'll eat my red sauce, she'll just try not to get to much meat on her plate. And split pea soup, has to be cooked with a ham hock, so she gets over that. Plus, she'll cook separately for me, so the least I can do, is try and hook her up when I can. Funny thing is, when she does just say fuck it, and goes postal on meat, it's usually the worst kind, like bologna, or hot dogs. The processed shit, that has enough salt to melt your driveway.

I've been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables over the last year or so. It sure has made a difference in terms of how I look and feel. I have so much more energy - and on top of that, eating well is very healthy for your body. I hardly ever eat greasy hamburgers and shit like that any longer. I absolutely LOVE eating them, but I just don't want to put all of that junk into my system. I also eat a lot of chicken and fish - specifically sardines, salmon, and tuna.

I like a good turkey burger. My wife uses a little of that Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, comes out tasty. A slice of cheddar, slice of tomato, pickles, and a little mayo.

I had a vegan donut off the local market a while back and it was amazing.

The stall never came back :(

I try to eat as organic as possible, I try to avoid GMO and palm-oil, only buy french meat and farm poultries (or eggs) and my fruit and vegetables straight from the producer (through an association of local farmers who sell their goods together to the public, no middle-man.

But that doesn't mean I ONLY buy and eat that kind of stuff. I'm not opposed to some fast-food, pizzas, kebab, etc, occasionally.
And I would rather eat GMO food (or even famish) than tofu or some vegan soja steak

Gave this a shot thinking it would be a nice high-class yogurt or pudding...

It was absolute shit. I don't know if it was the coconut milk or the specific flavouring, but it was the blandest, most overpriced vegan food I tried. If you want to punish or turn someone off from going vegan, give them this...

I don't eat hipster food because I don't like it - hipsters are usually too stringy and have way too much gristle.
