Divx without Spyware?

hello,

The offcial divx player and codec are full of spyware! if you destroy this, the codec don't work! So are there some other programs, in which i could watch my .avi's?

I watch all my .avi's and .mpg's in Windows Media Player.
I use ffdshow, latest version here for audio you may need AC3Filter
That should do it.

Come to think of it you may also need a MPEG2/SVCD codec. I found this one SourceForge, although I haven't tried it yet myself.

Everything released through SourceForge is freeware and open source, no ad-Aware, no spyware or any kind of malware. SourceForge is a goldmine if you ask me.

I recommend Ad-Aware and/or Spybot Search&Destroy.

I'm using Ad-Aware and I'm very happy with it. But I also know a lot of people use both. So the easy answer is probably: If your computer acts strangely and one of them can't fix it, use both.

You mean Windows Media Player doesn't work with the latest divx codec ? That it won't play .avi's using the latest divx codec ?
Did you use the latest ffdshow-20040405 ?
It works just fine for me.

You can just use quick time for avi's..... It works fine for me...

Another good spyware removal app is "hijack this". You can get it from http://www.download.com
It picks up things that adaware and spybot don't.

It clearly says that the Free DivX Pro is Ad-Supported But The DivX Player seems to be free from spyware.
Obs ! I just had a fast look, I haven't downloaded and checked it out.
