Richmond (SF Bay Area) police are searching for the drivers of two vehicles that hit and killed a bicyclist Saturday evening and then fled the scene.

The cyclist, Laura Casey, 49, was riding her bicycle south on Carlson Boulevard at Ohio Avenue about 6 p.m. when she was struck from behind by a car and knocked to the ground, said Richmond Police Lt. Manjit Sappal.

As Casey screamed for help, several people ran to her aid, officials said, but before they could reach her, a second vehicle hit her and dragged her about 25 feet.

"It was after that second vehicle ran her over that she was killed instantly," said Sappal.

If it wasn't bad enough that one driver fails to stop, but two ? :crash:

F'en maggots !!

Creeps.

I hope they catch them and inflict the worst pain imaginable on them for a days on end.

Riding a bicycle in the city is way too dangerous... Many drivers do not perceive people on a bicycle as a full member of the traffic, ignore them even when traffic regulations require to give the road, and simply do not notice them.

My friend was hit by car to death when he was on a bicycle. Driver was also about to fled the scene, and stopped just cuz the bicycle got stuck in the wheels of his vehicle.

And me myself was hit by a car once, when I was crossing a street on a bicycle to the green light, but I was lucky that time not to have any injury.

As for the second car that hit this woman, this is not that unique as it sounds. We do not know how it happened exactly, but it is one of the frequent scenarios for the car accidents with cyclists: after been hit, they can fly to the neighbour driving lane and met next car. Especially when there are many cars on the road at the same time, and speed is high enough.

And as for the leaving the scene - yes it is a fucked up assholes behaviour.

^^^ I totally agree with your statement. And sometimes you have asshole people on bikes, like fucking bike messengers that have no regard for anyone when they zip in and out of traffic in downtown Chicago. ^^^

Sad story about that woman though, I hope they catch those two scumbags.

quick story...my friend was coming home from the casino and got a flat tire...he was on the highway, waving people down to help him...and guess what, people just zoomed by him...like they never saw him...people are truly assholes

This happened in the same country where passers-by just step over bodies lying on the street.

America?

One time this guy here hit someone with his convertible and the dude's head flew off and landed in the drivers lap. true story.

I think it was near that same spot that I was walking down the street one time and there had just been an accident, cops and fireman were all around, and I nearly stepped in this puddle of blood that was right where I was walking.

crazy shit.

While this is true, bicyclists (at least around here) tend to abuse their privilege and not even make an effort to get over when they're riding in the middle of a country road with a high speed limit. I, as a driver, have to endanger my own life by crossing into the other lane to get around them. What happened to SHARING the road, where we all work together for the better safety of one another? Not only this, they are supposed to obey traffic laws such as drivers do, yet on many occasions I have seen them completely ignoring these laws. I've almost hit bicyclists on multiple occasions because they failed to recognize the traffic laws I was following. 3 of these people got pulled over because there were cops behind me at the time of the incident. Assholes. I don't see why bicyclists or drivers should act like one is better than the other. It's pathetic, but happens far too often.

People don't look and don't care. They have to get to the store to buy things or to work to make more money to buy things and kiss their employer's butt all day.

Anyone that is the cause of vehicular homicide should be given the death penalty.
If they just hit someone they lifetime suspended licence.

A criminal who uses a gun in a robbery can never buy a gun again, why not the same thing with a vehicle?

Americans aren't so bad, they just don't want to end up in court.
That's likely the reason that people don't seem to want to assert good will these days.

Sad.

Coming from Richmond, Ca., one of the the most murderous, drug dealing and gang laden cities in the country, I'd also assume that People are high as a kite - drugged, drunk, have warrants, posess an illegal firearm and / or are carrying weight (contraband) and don't want to face consequences if they did stop at the scene of an accident.

Damn !

Embryoyo, yes I know that some bicyclists are crazy. When I see them I am getting angry, cuz with their strange behaviour they cast a slur on all cyclist's reputation. I notice them driving on the wrong side of the road and violating other rules... and understand that the more idiots on bicycles are around me, the more chances that a car driver will think that I am one of those idiots when he see me from his car.
Because these are not the means of transport (bike or car) which make people act crazy, but something in their mind.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Humans are the lowest form of life.

when bicyclists act like idiots usually no one dies, and if they do, then it's the cyclists themselves.

the truth is that sometimes it really isn't the drivers fault. I think that cars can be dangerous no matter what anyone does, and that's something that maybe people should take into consideration.

I think we all know the expression about those that trade freedom for safety, but what about the other way around?

The main thrust of this story is 2 X (consecutive) hit and run and the idea that neither party found it within themselves to be human beings, not whose fault it was. ;)

well obviously it is wrong for them to hit and run.

I'm not really talking about who to blame, just about the problematic relationship between drivers and riders.

Dammit! We were up to a record of 36 minutes without a disgrace upon the human race. Someone flip the numbers back.

People get scared so they dont stop noone wants to be responsible for the death of someone else. I think ive heard some information somewhere that many people who hit and run usually turn themself in sometime after the incident, so lets hope these two turn themselves in or get caught because their actions are totally disgraceful.

People suck for the most part... and the world is wayyy over populated.

Do the math and the solution is obvious.
