DC's New 52 Reboot, What Are Your Thoughts?

LukeEl

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
Alright it is 2 months in since DC Comics started up their new 52 Initiative. For those that don't collect comics DC pretty much downsized all their comics and relaunched from issue 1# 52 new titles. I collect all the Batman comics which are great they are reintroducing characters, bringing in new ones. Then there is the Red Lanterns, which is pretty much when you cross the Punisher with Green Lantern. But the one comic that has gotten my intrest is All Star Wild West Tales. This is pretty much a reboot of Jonah Hex, except this time him and the founder of Arkham Asylum are solving crime in late 19th century Gotham kind of like Sherlock Holmes and Watson, but more badass.
Another good thing about the 52 relaunch is that some pretty good artist's are back from when I was younger. You have Jim Lee drawing Justice League, Brett Booth doing the art for Teen Titans, and yes hairdryer guns drawing Rob Liefield is working on Hawk & Dove.
Plus the women of DC wowzers! Catwoman is still hot, you got Batwoman who's a lesbian and you can't get any better than that, and last another of my favorite redheads, you have the original Batgirl back.
Well let me know your thoughts on DC 52.

I thought this was a thread about the people in Washington wanting to add a couple of more states.

Francis Manapul is doing the art for The Flash! It's awesome. I'm going to check out All Star Wild West Tales tonight!!

So...DC is basically doing Marvel Ultimates?

Not necessarily. The Ultimate universe is just that, a separate universe with the original one intact. The DC reboot is a reboot of the whole line, a new starting point. Some characters like Batman may have some of their old history but they still operate in the same universe as the ones who have a complete do over.

I'm interested in it and I think it was probably needed. However I haven't summoned the courage to fully get back into comics.

If money at some point becomes less of an issue (pun intended to the maximum) I'll dive in.

...Until they retcon it which I'm sure going to happen someday and knowing DC not to far in the future.

On a personal level I hope DC's reboot goes over like a ton of bricks. Not only was it a stupid publicity stunt, but I have a feeling it's not going to bring in the drove of new fans they are hoping, and they jerked the continuity around even more to do it.
