David Letterman's last show

I actually saw his first show when I was a kid. Hate to see him go. I also remember vaguely his short lived daytime talk show ..

Who here will be watching tonight?

a thread worth replying to.

I grew up (?) on Letterman. I started watching "Late Night.." sometime around '82 or '83, and while I can't say I've never missed a show, I can say I've watched him waaaaay more than Leno. I've got last nights' episode recorded, and tonight's set to record. I may watch it in real time anyway.

Then, I may go find an abandoned five-story tower to drop random shit off of.

One of my fondest memories was when Dave would use the hydraulic press to crush things. I remember a bowling ball breaking into 2 even pieces instead of being crushed.

I was a late starter with watching it. Of course, here in Germany, it is not on TV, so it has to be on Youtube.

So right now, I looked and found out: Hey, CBS offers to watch full episodes from last night etc. Oh Happy Day!

Then, I clicked, it took a minute, then it said: Sorry, not available in your area.

I will have to watch it all in the little pieces on the Youtube channel.

I am a little teary-eyed right now. Very fond memories.

In 1993 and 1994 he did shows in LA and somehow I got tix to see him both times. One year I even got a Canned Ham from him. It is so cold in the studio because he wants people not to fall asleep and stay fresh.

I was in the audience for this show. When she came out and did this - let's just say it was something I will never forget:

I'll keep the last show on DVR until I can burn it to a DVD. I was a huge Dave fan from Day 1. I always enjoyed Jack Hanna's appearances. And I think the funniest episode was the one where I came close to choking out because I was coughing so hard as I laughed. It was with Rena Smaha and her monkeys. Sandy the monkey broke bad on Dave and was gonna whup dat azz!

Man, I just watched this again and my stomach hurts and I have tears running down my face. Damn, that was funny stuff!

Also, I swear I can't believe that Dave and Terri Garr weren't romantically involved at some point. I know she's sick now. But back when she was on Dave's show all the time, she was so witty and a hottie.

The skit/segment that made me laugh till I cried was the one where either Dave or some actor was working as a clerk in a store and when the transaction was completed they would say " Next time bring ya sister, you hump!"

That could get hairy with some customers and they would want to fight .

I also dropped into Rupert G's Hello Deli a couple of times and had a pastrami on rye and Snapple. Took a couple of selfies with him. Rupert is a prince of a guy

Rupert G. was one of my faves. I'd be very cool with meeting Rupert. I put him right up there with Larry Bud Melman and Chris Elliot (back when he was still funny).

It is very easy to meet Rupert. Just drop into the deli when you are in NYC. There are many people waiting in line to buy a sandwich or take a photo. He is very accommodating

I'll miss passing the celebrity entrance on 53rd across from the back of The Roseland where the paparazzi would gather daily @ 5pm.

That's the greats of talk.

^^^ I agree.

Way before any of our time, but Steve Allen has to be included. And Joey Bishop wasn't too shabby either.
