computer Dummie needs help.

I have two minor but irritating problems and don't seem able to sort them.

1. During the past week I have sound distortion on my Laptop.

2. Also during this time the text size on web pages is much bigger than normal.

I would be most grateful if anyone could help before I chuck this laptop out the window. Please be gentle with me and keep it S.I.M.P.L.E.

Hre's another tip I found.

Try disabling all of your anti-virus / anti-spyware software (disconnect from the Internet before you do this) and then try again. It could be either that other software is coincidentally doing an automated thorough scan of your hard disk at the same time (that will slow hard disk access down and sound files are particularly affected by this) or it may be that those sound files are being scanned each time they are being accessed which, again, will slow down access to them and affect performance.

Remember to re-enable your security software after you've done that test.

Did you recently upgrade your Media Player or any media players?
Uninstall them and reinstall them.

Not intentionally, but will try to Uninstall and reinstall.

Many thanks for all your help, but don't give up on me!

Will let you know when or if ever I get this sorted.

If it's a sort of metallic screeching noise, your speakers are probably shot. If it's more of a muffled distortion, it's probably a sound card driver/ media software issue. Control + and - take care of text size.

That your text size and sound issues started around the same time suggests to me your system was corrupted by something. What if any anti-spyware/anti-virus programs have you run to clean your system since discovering these problems?

If you haven't I would suggest running a few free but good quality anti infection programs then updating/re-install your driver.

Think you may be correct, and probably too many Big Boobies causing the problem.
