Chemical in McDonald's fries could cure baldness

Japanese scientists may have discovered a cure for baldness—and it lies within a chemical used to make McDonald’s fries.

A stem cell research team from Yokohama National University used a “simple” method to regrow hair on mice by using dimethylpolysiloxane, the silicone added to McDonald’s fries to stop cooking oil from frothing.

Hmm. I'm more worried about the chemical being used in the fries now...

Yes, indeed!

These are the ingredients used to make French fries in McDonalds's, United States -

Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [Wheat and Milk Derivatives]*, Citric Acid [Preservative], Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintain Color), Salt. Prepared in Vegetable Oil: Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil with TBHQ and Citric Acid added to preserve freshness. Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent. Contains: Wheat and Milk. *Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.

It goes on to say McDonalds even has their own video to explain each ingredient and why it used :1orglaugh
If you have to explain why there are 19 ingredients in your food to reassure safety... something's still wrong

Whooo.

If I was given the option of going bald or eating McDonalds fries (or any other product they sell) to keep my hair. I would quite happily go bald.

Mind you, you are always talking about the highly unregulated US McDonalds. Other countries have far less chem in the food

I used to have very long hair ...down to the middle section of my back. I do miss it sometimes, but I also enjoy being bald ....completely shaved. It's so easy to take care of. That is an interesting article though.

It's separating the chemical to use in isolated study for hair regrowth. I think I'd rather be bald and right weight than overweight with hair and clogged up arteries lol

Than again I still eat five pounds of food and still don't gain weight...

Must... eat... more McDonald’s to get rid of that bald spot on the crown of my head. Maybe I can spray paint some fries brown and staple them there.

:1orglaugh

I'll take my chances with Rally's and Arby's curly fries if push comes to shove
