COLUMBUS, Ohio - Victoria's Secret, the lingerie company that introduced the Very Sexy bra, the Fantasy Bra, and the Internet server-crashing fashion show, has become "too sexy" for its own good, its top executive said.

"We've so much gotten off our heritage ... too sexy, and we use the word sexy a lot and really have forgotten the ultra feminine," said Sharen Turney, Victoria's Secret's chief executive, in a call with industry analysts.

Victoria's Secret was launched with the idea that Victoria was manor-born and lived in London, Turney said.

"I feel so strongly about us getting back to our heritage and really thinking in terms of ultra feminine and not just the word sexy and becoming much more relevant to our customer," Turney said Thursday.

are sales down? isn't "ultra feminine" kinda sexy in general? sounds a little whiney to me ,must have lost sales somewhere and panic is setting in.

It's over when they start using "real women" as models.

This looks like a PR attempt to regain investor confidence.

I think she's just jealous that the models look hotter in the lingerie than she does!

What that says doesn’t even make any sense. I would think feminine lingerie would be sexy by its nature. That makes about as much sense as making an action movie where nobody gets hurt.

She must be STOPPED.......before she fucks it up for ALL of us !!!!

They can be a "sexy" as they want ! The more the better.

OTOH, They need to squelch their mall displays a bit. This merchandise should be marketed exclusively to people of majority and not children.

Advertising affects the culture . . . big time !

We certainly don't want 8 - 9 - 10 . . . year old girls running around looking like young doable women ! That's gross.

agreed. I do not like shopping for something for the wife in there with all the teenie-boppers and younger checking out the lace bras and sheer thongs!!!

I watched the last fashion show. It seemed more "fashionable" with all the feathers and stuff than "sexy". Their catalogs are more clothes than lingerie now. They should go back to hot sexy bedroom stuff instead of stuff you would wear outside the bedroom.

Everything in this topic is true.

Less teenies in the V-S.

Less clothes/more lingerie in the V-S.

Less size zero. That just doesnt exist outside of hollywood and Anorexiaville. More reality in the V-S.

More reality for the company itself: You made the image, now deal with it. You sell slutty outfits and that's what people want in the V-S.

Great summation, Torre. This move by the CEO sounds a lot like a violation of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Victoria's Secret has become part of our consciousness as a premier seller of sexy and feminine lingerie. Their hallmarks are sexiness and high quality. That's what women and men expect from them. They can branch out into less revealing clothing, if they wish, but I really hope they don't ditch the stuff that made them famous.

A long time fan of the brand I checked Limited Brands on Google to jokingly look at their stock.
I figured, I love their panties, why not see how their stock is doing.
Any thoughts on if it can continue paying that juicy dividend?

Have I ever mentioned that I despise Victoria's Secret and adore Frederick's of Hollywood?

Admittedly I never looked too deeply into Frederick's of Hollywood but I'm sure I should.
I've always been intrigued by Trashy but haven't bought anything off their website...yet.

I agree with their assessment. Us guys might like the sexier more, but ultimately their customer base is women.
