Building a Log Cabin

Expect Nothing and Appreciate Everything
More from TA Outdoors, this time building a Saxon style house. Its all pretty interesting to watch, especially as they only use hand tools!

There are 12 parts to this but can only post 10 up so check their Youtube page out if you want to see the last 2 ;)

Enjoy :)

Funny that this thread shows up. I'm currently reading this book:

https://www.amazon.com/Call-America...+of+the+wild+guy+grieve&qid=1574690536&sr=8-2

I see that they changed the title a but. The original title was Call of the Wild. I guess they didn't want to mix this with the Jack London classic. Either way, this book is a must read for everyone who has ever thought about building a log cabin. It's about a guy from Scotland, who got sick of office live and went to live in the Alaska wilderness for one year. Wonderful read. Describes the building techniques into great detail. I recommend it also if you're into Alaska books, just like me for the past eight years, since I first read Going to Extremes out of curiousity. :)

So I'm watching the video Lux posted in post #1, and halfway through, an ad started playing for a company called "Outdoor Vitals", a camping gear retailer sharing, "Three Secrets To A Better Night's ***** Outdoors". Here's the three big secrets: "1. Use A Really Thick ******** Pad. 2. Get A Higher Comfort Rated ******** Bag. 3. Use A Pillow." WOW! That's game changing information! I would also suggest ol' dude in the cabin consider switching from wood heat to some sort of piped-in LP gas, and don't give me no **** about being, "off-grid", there are ways to do it that are still off-grid, and it's just as acceptable as his mass-produced lawn chair and other stuff he's got that he didn't make or build by hand.
