Breaking news: Porn stars are happier than other women, a startling study claims!

The adult entertainers were found to have higher levels of self-esteem, positive feelings, social support, sexual satisfaction and spirituality than a control group.

Less surprisingly, the adult actresses also enjoy sex more and have much more of it, researchers found.


Porn stars typically start having sex earlier — on average aged 15 rather than 17.

And they have far more partners over their lifetimes — an average of 75, not including their on-screen work.

Porn actresses were no more likely than other women to have suffered childhood sexual abuse, the study found.

Researchers said their findings challenge widely held views about women who work in the sex industry and the evidence does not support the theory porn stars are "damaged goods".

Psychologists in the US studied 177 porn stars aged 18 to 50 who had all been paid to appear in at least one blue movie.

The actresses, whose average career in porn was 3.5 years, racked up an average of 75 partners over their lives compared to just five for other women.

Over a third of the porn stars were either married or in a serious relationship, with 44 per cent being single.

And two-thirds of porn stars said they were bisexual, compared with 7 per cent of the control group.

The adult actresses also apparently have more energy and sleep better, the survey found.

The study was carried out by researchers from Shippensburg University, Texas Woman’s University and the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.
They concluded: “These findings did not provide support for the damaged goods hypothesis.”
