Bob and any other gamblers in the house - here's a show for you

Everybody knows I hate reality TV. But there's a show on CNBC that has caught my attention. I know being a reality show, it's probably fake as hell. But still, it's kind of interesting and I've been watching it. It's about a guy who runs a sports betting company, only he doesn't take bets. He recommends picks and takes a percentage commission if his clients win. He's a real character. Have a look.

Money Talks

"Money Talks" is a glimpse into a rarely seen side of gambling and Las Vegas.

If someone puts the show on the interweb I'll look it up. I'd like to get more into horse racing since I've gotten burned out on poker.

Best show so far was Jockeys on Animal Planet. I really liked it so, of course, it got cancelled after 2 seasons.

I'm going to keep an eye open for this. It will be cool to see how they play this into reality.

This dude is a lying fucking scumbag piece of shit. He is a con - he has been convicted of a wide array of crimes and shouldn't be doing this. He has been universally panned by those in the sports betting industry. NO ONE not only knows who he is but NO ONE has ever heard of him before this. The shows are edited to make him seem like a winner but he is anything but. He had a show where he advised betting on a football game - that had already been played yet when the pick won he was happy. How and why CNBC put this show on is something no one in the industry understand. I have extensive knowledge of this industry and if any of his boiler room snake oil salesmen called me I would tell them I am on the DNC list and to go fuck themselves and NEVER call me again.

Avoid this show at all costs - it sucks and the mother fucking asshole "Steve Stevens " sucks even more

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you don't care for this guy too much, Cestmoi. :D

If I was tied to the gambling industry or knew something (anything) about it, I guess I'd be more sensitive to how this show is being presented. But to me, it's just a hoot. I think the character, Steve Stevens (real name Darin Notaro), is funny. And he's actually mentioned on the show that he's a convicted felon. But are you saying that all the betting scenes are staged or fake? I wouldn't be surprised. The Profit and Shark Tank have a lot of fake/staged scenes too. And CNBC's main man, Jimmy Cramer, is also a charlatan (although Nouriel Roubini just refers to him as "the buffoon"). But CNBC has a long history of allowing questionable programming and questionable behavior on the part of its "journalists". Both Maria Bartiromo and Erin Burnett were playing hide the sausage with men in industries they reported on (favorably). I miss the old FNN (Financial News Network). On its worst day, it was better than CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox News (a right wing political channel that runs stock quotes in order to call itself a business channel) all put together.

Oh well... but for shits & giggles, I do get a kick out of Money Talks. Can't help myself. It's my current guilty pleasure.

I found it on Youtube. Some of the episodes have almost no volume but I did watch 2 that had good sound. It is a pisser. Sure it's more TV than reality but that's what makes it all the much better.

I watched the show on Thursday, what a bullshit artist. Did they say what felony he did? Because many of them will get you in "The Book" Nevada Gaming Board's list of people not allowed in any casino.

I think it was something to do with fraud when he worked for a boiler room operation, but I'm not sure.

You may not be allowed into any of the casinos but that doesn't stop you from selling your opinions. I haven't watched all of the episodes and don't know the exacts of the laws but I believe he has a business. What I haven't seen yet is him backing up his bets the other way. Say I sell you the Penguins -1 1/2 for $1000 at 10% rake. I also have to sell the Rangers at +1 to cover my losses. That's the balancing act you've got to use to flow money. And as far as anything that he has to say about sources or crunching numbers goes, he has no more knowledge than any other human being inside the sport. It's an old saying,"That's why they run the race." Horses get bumped leaving the gate, goalies have their pads shifted, winds change in the ballpark.

I still like this show and will find more episodes. They do a lot to make it entertaining.
