Blocked sites question

I am running into an issue with most if not all of the major porn sites. I have recieved a notice when attempting to view any of them that as a resident of Texas I am not allowed to view their site without some form of age verification. The issue is I am about 1000 miles away from Texas and have never been there not even driven through it. So there is no smell of Texas on me. Can anyone give me any idea why this is happening and if there is a way around this problem? Thanks in advance.

Maybe the porn sites are basing it on your internet service provider. What state is your provider headquartered in? Does your provider have customers in Texas?

Presumably it will be closer to Texas than you think.

Two numbers came up. Ivp6 is in Pennsylvania. Ivp4 is in San Francisco. I am in the middle. Thanks for the information. Anyone have any other ideas? Oh and my provider is one of the major ones and probably has customers everywhere.

Have you reached out to the websites directly? They might tell you it's an ongoing issue.

From what I've read at a few places, there are states that may-or-may-not block the pronz, now.
Similar to the U.K., I suppose.

All the more reason to use a VPN, I say!

I strongly second my former colleagues advice to use a VPN. I use add-ons for my webbrowsers, and switch them on, when needed (Or just in case...).

And they don't only come in handy for porn, many videos are blocked from being viewed in specific countries, or you can't visit other websites. It can all go away by switching your IP location...
