Black Friday, ReallY?

^ Should they call it White Friday? ;)

I had to wake up early in the morning (5:30 am) to go to work, which is good 'cause the local Macy's store gets flooded every Black Friday around 11:00 am. Though it wasn't as painful as I expected it to be, I'm still really glad it's over.

What IS Black Friday about, where does it come from?

2/3 of retail sales are done in 1/3 the calendar year. The Friday after Christmas is the time when profit is made to get out of the red and into the black on the books.

Re: Black Friday, Really?

I think they should call it Red Friday. It is the day that stores try to make it into the black, but it's also the day that consumers often spend money that they don't have (who came up with the credit card, anyway???) and go into the red for the next 6 months... at 18% interest. Whatta bahgain! :nanner:

With that said though, I am getting ready to hit the "buy" button for some high performance parts for my car in the next few minutes. I wanted to order them a few weeks ago but they run a sale this time of year, so I waited for this very reason. To me this is different because #1) I have the money sitting in my account to pay for the parts (although I am going to use an interest free offer on my credit card to use their money for nothing for the next 18 months + get a cash back reward/rebate - ya gotta get over on The Man whenever ya can. :)), #2) I'm saving money on something that I planned on buying anyway and #3) this is not an impulse buy - it's a stupid waste of money, but it's not an impulse buy.

what the fuck you lookin at?
People wait in line litterally for days. To save roughly a hundred bucks on some off brand piece of shit tv. I wonder how much money they spend on food during said waiting period. No thanks, fuck the growds and the traffic. I'll just pay full price!

^ Just tells you about the priorities in this country: being cheap ... err ... on a budget ... over self-esteem.

I'm with you on that. My car needed a break job so I shopped around my local stores for rotors and pads. Pep Boys had the rotors for $30 each in store. Online from their site they were $10. Same SKU number to order and pickup from store stock. Deduct 15% for all break parts and free shipping specials running at the same time and I was all over it. Gonna do the same thing for a starter. $50 new from an auto electrical parts place online. $35-40 from a junk yard $140 referb.

Online shopping is up 8% this year and the trend will only continue upwards. It's safe and there are apps that let you compare prices. I used to make a day to go to Philly for tobacco (I roll my own cigs) grocery and Philly Park. Lately I found an online tobacco place cheaper than the stores and the shipping costs less than the gas. Less money going to Philly Park also. Brick and mortar often times sell out on their hot specials for Black Friday and that's a big pain in the ass. Shipping can also be a pain in the ass if the goods come broken but these instances are not that common and exchanges can be made in-store to save some of the repack/ship back hassle.

There are TONS of black fridays, many historically more important than the one shopping day of the year Americans show their greed and lack of empathy for their fellow human beings...with that said, I would like you all to take advantage of DDF Network's 85% Black Friday special discount located at the top of this page. Don't forget about Cyber Monday Madness! Insanely good discounts on your favorite porn sites! Check this out! .

Fixed. Go back on vacation.

You forgot the links. :cthulhu:

And 3.5 weeks until my next vacation. Then I'll still have 15 days left of vacation to use up for 2014. Just because I know you care.
