Bill Maher > Glenn Beck

Aren't they like the same except on opposite sides of the political spectrum?

I mean if you're conservative then you're going to choose Glen Beck and if you're liberal then you going to choose Bill Maher. Of course if you're independent then you're going to asking what I'm asking.

^ I agree and disagree. Genuine Conservatives aren't going to vote for Glenn Beck just because he pretends to be a Conservative but intellectually dishonest NeoCons on the other hand will definitely give their vote to Glenn Beck no matter what. It's interesting how you mention that they're both on the opposite ends of the political spectrum but if I'm not mistaken both of these comedians claim to be Libertarians. Although I'm neither Libertarian, Republican, Democratic nor Independent, I am socially liberal but I do agree with fiscal conservative politicians who are consistent with this economic philosophy unlike GeneriCons who don't practice what they preach

I'd rather listen to Dennis Miller ramble on.

Maher on vaccines is a bit of an idiot I have to say. All that nonsense he was spouting about them a few months back reminded of nothing more than the no nothing anti-vaxxers who like to pop-up here and there from time to time when a new vaccines comes onto the market. Which when you look at his stance on health care is a bit of a contradiction in view points.

But still, the craziness never stops over at the Beck house. So there really isn't much room for comparison.

Beck is nothing more than a re-tread of all the other lock step GOPer bobble heads. His alarmist style allows him to recast the same spin to draw a bigger audience.

Maher is just plain funny and he'd better be seeing as he's a comedian. Maher knows what he's talking about 90 pct of the time, makes some good points and his show's format is head an shoulders above any political show out there.

Maher is a comedian. Beck is not.

A better comparison would be Keith Olbermann and Glen Beck.

As far as that goes...

Olbermann = Beck

True. I think there is a difference though from Olbermann to Beck...

I don't think Beck is a re-tread at all. I can't stand him, but he's certainly created his own brand. Where Hannity and Limbaugh just "out" supposed hypocrisies or blanket criticism, Beck is a guy who can take somebody like Van Jones and link him to Obama being a Stalinist who plans to starve the population to death. Beck is a guy who includes Charity is his show's slogan and devotes entire shows to God, yet champions Ayn Rand. He's a guy who calls himself a Libertarian, but is against legalizing pot, allowing gay marriage or ending the war in Iraq (until we "win"). He's A convert Mormon who tells people to read the King James bible....there's no rhyme or reason to him.

Anyway, Maher is a funny guy at times. And smart. But I've seen him cave in on his own ideas so many times. All it takes is an angrier, more dedicated Liberal to set him "straight". A few years back, he had some actress who was firmly pro-choice. Maher surprised me and said something like, "OK but come on, even you have to admit the a nine month old fetus is a baby" (this was in regard to the late term abortion debate). Maher caved in as soon as she responded with some generic my body/my choice answer. And you could see that Maher was in instant appeasement mode. God forbid he defied the cult's decree. When you end a contrary view with, "Yeah...I guess. NEXT SUBJECT!" it's hard to get my respect.

Plus, he's said some truly vile shit in his day. Shit that wasn't a joke (and I'm not talking about his 9-11 hijacker comments...which I agree with.) And starting in '08, he went from calling it as he sees it to becoming Obama's top bitch. That was disappointing. Clearly he's a Liberal who'd support Democrats, but he really turned it on for Obama. Obama, a guy who had never really done anything could instantly also do no wrong.

Then why no choice "C"
I'll also add that, in today's world, intellectual and dishonesty go hand in hand, from my reference point anyway.

Welcome all party defectors! :glugglug:

Maher hasn't called himself a Libertarian in well over a decade. I think he realized that he was fooling idiots, but wasn't fooling himself. So now he just says he's an Independent. Other than his desire for legalization of pot, nothing about Maher has ever been Libertarian. He's a huge fan of bureaucracy.

Glen Beck is a reprehensible douche, althought you can't blame him for being able to pay his rent by manipulating people! Fish in a fucking barrel.
