Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
OK so now I'm on a Pete Townshend kick and been listening to a lot of "The Who" lately. I put them in the top 5 rock bands of all-time as far as my opinion goes but, even if you disagree with that, you must concur that they are icons of the genre to say the least. I love 'em.

So....if forced to pick only one, what's their best song? No solo stuff, just the band. Whatcha got to say? Expound on "Other" or anything else if you like. :D

Oh....my choice today is "Eminence Front" but that might change tomorrow.

The Who is one of the few groups Who I like every single song theyve done.
The early pre - Tommy stuff is real melodic , the Mod sound.
The Who's Next, Quadraphenia, By Numbers I think was their peak.
Then Who are You.......... but after Moon died they just wasn't the same.
Townshends solo stuff is great too.

Worth a watch, awesome finish. Dec. 68

Check out Ann-Margrock shakin it. Hot.

You guys really like Eminence Front.
Is this a put on?
Its very repetitious, far from their best.........but eye of the beholder i guess.

It's the message and the way the song builds that hits home with me. I never get tired of listening to it.

I can be convinced to consider others however. Love, Reign O'er Me for instance.

Hard to pick, though I've always liked "Getting In Tune" off Who's Next

Honorable mention to:

John Entwistle, "Boris the Spider"

and

Keith Moon, "Bell Boy"

Only because John and Keith sing on these songs! ;)

I'd pick Tommy in its entirety. See Me, Feel Me being my personal favorite.

Killer B

I Like Big Tits! (song by Joe Walsh)
Tough decision, all songs on the poll are great. I'll go with "Won't Get Fooled Again" since it really highlights Townshend's guitar skills.

Torn & Frayed.
This is a loaded question...every one knows that the best song by The Who is "Squeeze Box".....

...or "Dr. Jimmy"....

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I voted other, because in my opinion, nothing by The Who, is better then "Sparks/Amazing Journey", from the "Tommy album. But the "Live At Leeds" version. I wish they would release the whole "Leeds" concert....it was one of the best performances they ever played.

Won't Get Fooled Again

But I had a difficult time choosing between that and Behind Blue Eyes. I gave it to the one that will make me look down at my speedometer and all of a sudden I am going 75 in a 55 and didn't notice.

  Lest we forget the classic countoff by Keith Moon, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6..." on "Slip Kid" off Numbers.

[As well as Pete Townshend's good guitar work too. :) ;) ]
