he never played a mobster in a Bronx Tale yes but its still a gangster classic, i never asked whats the best gangster he's played!!!!

Casino was basically Goodfells part II. I voted Goodfellas. Is it one of the greatest movies in history? Yes.

yes i'd agree the two movies were made in the same way but they involve two TRUE stories involved in no way connected with very different characters: eg
1) he plays Jimmy Conway based on the real life New York Irish gangster Jimmy Burke in Goodfellas
2) he plays Sam 'Ace' Rothstein based on real life mob handicapper & gambler Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal who worked for the Chicago Outfit in Casino

the only similarity is Joe Pesci's characters who are based on two different gangsters also but share the same psychotic tendancies!!! lol

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Great question! Really good one. Once Upon a Time In America is one of my favorite movies of all time... after The Godfather series. I have to go with him as young Don Vito in the Godfather part II, but DeNiro as "Noodles" in Once Upon a Time is a close second.

What makes that one even better is so few people have seen this great Sergio Leone movie... which was released under at least three cuts - and two different endings.

Best scean in Goodfella is where they have Billy Bats in the trunk, played by Frank Vincent who was actually in the Bonano family in the late 60's early 70's, and Pecsi's mother, who was really his mother, made the crew dinner.

thanks!
he is good in Godfather Pt 2 & his performance in Once Upon a Time in America is class, got to agree with that but he should've got an oscar for his portrayal of Jimmy Conway (Jimmy Burke) in Goodfellas, most underachieved movie of all time!

Billy Batts was actually in the Gambino family, part of John Gotti's crew!

i have done my homework on this by the way if you wanna dispute the facts since its my favourite movie of all time!

Billy Bats was a Gambino correct BUT.......
Frank Vincent was in a crew in the Bonanno Family in the late 60's early 70's.

your missing the point.

The ACTOR who played Billy Bats was Frank Vincent.
Frank Vincent was a associate of the Bonanno Family, prior to getting to acting. Frank Vincent might be the only actor in mobster movies that actually ran with a mob crew.

Sorry if what I posted before did not make any sence.

Yes I did and he was arrested 28 times as well, under Carmine "junior" Persico. Ironic that he plays a guy that was also under Junior, oh the irony

There is a Sopranos reference to this fact when Paulie says "I made it through the seventies by the skin of my balls when the Colombos were goin' at it." lol
