/tried AAA titles, tried indie
/eventually say fuqqit and just download a few emulators and try some old stuff
Diablo 3 and Pokemon Shield are kinda good.

No monetization. No nonsense, just a grind and some decent QOL. 2013 and 2019, I think? Would go back farther, but mebbe a sweet spot between ancient and 'this doesnt look terrible' in those 2010s.

That is anice idea.

Must try it out
Because ps3 emu's are quite demanding, I never got around to newer systems. Until recently.
But Yuzu (Nin Switch) and Ryujinx play nicely on just about anything.
Accordingly, I am catching up on the last 6 years of nintendo stuff. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was alright, but buggy. (The one where you can assemble all kinds of different machines/constructs/things, sandbox style)
Mario 3d world is just a port of the Wii U game from 10 years ago. (But still a nice few hours)
Red Dead redemption is 'remastered' and plays well enough, plus its about 10% of the install size of red dead 2. (GOOD LORD 150 GIGS?! My HD is only 250. I cant download AND install the sequel, I can only do one or the other)

Only caveat is that the games 'stutter' when writing new shaders. The first time you walk, run, jump, climb a ledge, watch a cutscene, load the intro, etc... about a 1.5 second compile (for EACH new thing, not overall) while it figures out:
What it should do. What it should do with THOSE settings. On YOUR system. What to show, what will happen, etc

So playing the game the first time is.. an exercise in patience. Would NOT recommend for actiony, twitchy games. (Dark Souls, god of war, devil may cry style)

Hm, maybe i will reconsider. These days, I am quite happy with Android games like Solitaire, Candy Crush games, etc.

Hacked my ps2, since I never use it. Time to load up a flash drive with every game I never played. (Which is a lot)
Red Faction 2 (destructible environments)
Ridge Racer 5 (I kinda like the soundtracks)
Bully (worth a replay)
GTA Vice City stories (I guess its more of a dlc than a standalone game, but whatevs. Half the fun is the radio station and just cruising. IMO)

Metroid Dread (switch 1) is terrible.
Moving right along to something less... less that.
Terrible map layout. Cheap shot enemies and QTE's.
Indestructible enemies every 5 minutes that chase you 5 screens over.
The most unintuitive controls, ever.
No joy to the exploration, no memorable locations, no rhyme or reason as to why things are the way they are.
Too many cutscenes that drag you out of the awe you might feel ( SHOULD feel) in a title like this.

FFS its supposed to be a major sequel to one of the best games of all time, and it plays like dead space-vania.

I'm just done with games.
Fitgirl is a fucking joke. Installs fail on win or linux. (Yeah, let us just repack a game BADLY and send it into the world. Have you ever had to double check your .net installs? visualwhatevers? **** settings? Proton compatibility? UNARC.DLL errors)
Back to emulation for a few years until this absolute shitshow is done. (I do believe ubisoft is about to go out of business? MS is still unaliving studios? Nintendo is still suing EVERYONE?)

Fitgirl sounds like an add-on which replaces character models with atrractive or scantly clad babes.

Nah, some vaguely russian girl who repacks things with the intent to save lottamany gigs on DL and spend those saved minutes/hours on decompressing during install.
